What do you think of the paralympics ad campaign?

I'm really getting sick of it tbh. The lengthy TV ad which is shown on several channels in almost EVERY ad break is beginning to annoy me.

The whole "meet the superhumans" thing, which is shown at least 1000 times a day. It's like they are trying to force people to have an interest in the paralympics.

Shock as advert for an event is designed to encourage people to watch the event! :p

It's a refreshing change from all the Wonga/PPI Claims/Shoddy Lawyers/Insurance in my opinion. But I generally don't watch adverts or mute them so the frequency of this one doesn't bother me.

I've been sick of the para adverts since before the Olympics actually started.

It seemed like the entire Olympics were being overshadowed by the Paraolympics. I'd have been quite peeved had I been an Olympian without a disability.

Yes, it's as though they are over compensating for how proud they are of these people. Yes, they are amazing, but the adverts are going way over the top.

I'm also not convinced that I need to see graphic close-ups of stumps (as shown in the same ad).

I could show you graphic close-ups of the contents of my pants, but I don't in the name of taste.

Or is it politically incorrect to not like this, or something.

That's a little off-topic, don't you think?

I have a license, and I'm sure most of the people commenting in this thread do too.

it's not off-topic because its not et sequitur. I have seen that ad once, a couple of weeks ago, at the in-laws. Broadcast TV media is a waste of time and inferior to on-demand services. Can't get sick of it if you don't watch it..

Timeshift everything you watch, then you can forward through the adverts.

As to the ad itself, I think it is quite powerful and have zero problem with close ups of stumpts etc. Hiding it from view seems to be counter to the paralympic spirit tbh.

They're trying to raise interest in something that the majority of people don't give a stuff about (and failing). A prime example of that is our London 2012 forum here, there are what, four or five threads about the Paralympics with very few posts compared with seven pages relating to the Olympics.

People don't care about the Paralympics.

You are not fashionable if you dont idolise the competitors. Its PC at its worst.

You know, I think that's pretty much it.

I have no interest in the people or the event for no other reason than its a contrived overtly PC guilt fest for the rest of us.

Great theres a Paralympics good luck to all the competitors and I hope you all have a great time.

Other than that, I don't care what happens.

yeah they may play it a lot but its a big event for channel 4 so you can forgive them for advertising it using what anyone Ive heard mention it (me included) to be an exceptionally good advert!

How strange as I've not seen it on the channels I watch but then we turn off the sound during advert breaks. Maybe turning off the sound will lower your blood pressure.
