** OFFICIAL Football Manager 2012 Thread **

Do you find Man City a challenge?

No, infact im bored already

Going to go Real probably or someone in Italy... just want to spend big and let the game run its course.

Might do a home nation policy only.... if I do its Italy as I cant be Real without Galacticos :D

Made Burton Albion into a world beater! 11 seasons and we are on our 5th defense of the prem, 4rd of the champions league, 3rd of the club world cup and a few other honors :D

Have to wait another 18 game months to get my 43k stadium and then I will be done with FM for a while :p

Actually going to give my IA game a 2nd season... might as well try to make the Champions League with an Icelandic outfit, plus with Litmanen and Solano giving the team the superstar feel :D

Edit: Just snapped up a 38 year old Jan Koller as well .... things getting spicy in the cold north.

Just getting back into FM2012 with a new DB so I can start as St Albans City and in about 12 - 15 years win the premiership only using youth and never buying anyone!!

Did someone say LEGEN(wait for it)DARY!

How far you gotten the saints so far?? :p

Tried to win with them a few years back when they were in the BSS at the start...

Well, not a bad return for the first season!

Only started today, got the friendlies out of the way and my star player is a 35 yr old, I think I have taken on way too much but I will not stop, England doesn't really get many decent REGENS so I could be here a while!!

I've only just realised that offering 'wage after reaching international appearances' is a really easy way to get players signed! Especially Spanish players!

Never. If you told me signing only under 18s I would tell you ok, but only your own youth system. Forget it.

You need to have a chairman with lots of money who will constantly upgrade training and youth facilities.

GO HARD OR GO HOME - Malteser.

Should be fun either way.

It will go horribly wrong :p

St Albans have a massive problem with the chairman who has no ambition for league football, back when they had 2 seasons in the bsp that was always the highest he thought they could go :(

Plus you will have to sign people to up :p takes years for even average academies to produce enough promotion players... (this is what happened to Burton, 11 years in, not one decent academy graduate, though they are spending 8m building a whole new one for my team now)

Please take st albans all the way, I want them to make Clarence Park a massive stadium! (it's comically small at the moment)

Constant match day, rest day, match day, rest day, match day, rest day, match day at the moment. Everyone is knackered!

The scheduling always has a couple of problems, there's one or two years (because of the way the days fall on dates) that get stuck like this, but the ai is much worse at handling it so usually you play teams who put out 2 or 3 players who start on 70% and all you have to do is go in hard on them to get them injured and some u18's on... (McLeish at Untied did this much to my amusement)

It sort of works out later in the game, being in the club world cup oddly helps by rejigging league and cup games to a more manageable schedule.

You're right, yes :)

I did notice this last night. I played LA Galaxy which normally in the MLS field 4 - 5* players. They fielded players from 2 - 4*. I could only manage a 1-1 draw though which I wasn't happy about when previously in the season I beat them 5-1 when they fielded a full strength team.

I normally pick a Conference South team, re-name 5 of their players to make my mates names, make them have the potential to become world class and then start a new game.

It's really fun and if you're good then you can normally get them promoted every 1-2 years as you have a decent spine to your team.

It's not of Burton Albion breaking a world transfer record by buying a 25 year old Brazilian playmaker for £92m??

Should post that as its the maddest transfer I have done on fm...
