Well bugger me, I always thought this was a joke/myth

You're lovely and all, but why do Scottish delicacies mean we have to have bumular enjoyment?

Oh well, just the once.

It should be a joke/myth but alas it's real.
A local chippy (chippie?) used to do them and are up there with the worst foodstuff I've tried. Really sickly.
Whoever 1st thought it would be a good idea to deep fry a mars bar needs help.

My local chippy whilst at uni would deep fry pretty much anything you wanted.

We tried Peanut M&M's, Snickers, Twix, Skittles (YUCK!) and a few others.

One of the Canadian exchange students did not believe us when we talked about it so we bought a frozen cheesecake for her birthday and had it deep fried in batter and stuck a candle in it. That was an interesting combo but not the worst thing I have ever eaten from a chippy.

Yeah, I always thought this was a joke/myth

Seriously? Deep fried twixes are where it's at though! Also there's a place down in Cornwall when I was a kid that would deep fry anything (as long as it wouldn't destroy their fryer) for £1. Deep fried pizza slice was EPIC!

the deep fried pizza is the norm up here, u get a half a pizza supper for about £3. all the school kids get it at lunch.

No, definitely not a myth. They also deep fry pizzas and butter balls up here to, its hardly surprising the Scots have the shortest life span of people in Britain. Anything healthy like vegetables seems to be a minority interest.

Definitely real, the takeaway under my old flat used to sell them. Then again, they'd deep fry anything you asked them to. Deep fried kebabs were the ones that always made me reconsider what I was doing living in Scotland.

Well, they kind of are a joke that has become so popular with tourists (and some locals) that they're worth keeping around.

Deep fried pizza is not a joke though; it's epic.
