EK (EN) blocks corroding

momo56 may i say you have been given a refund which is excellent and what i would consider a excellent service. They haven't messed you aground and have done you a good dead. Let this reflect on the good will of E.K as they could have easily lead you up a stray path and not carried it though.

I would all so like to point out we have been using EK products our self s for a very long time how ever we have never had any problems with there support or there products them self. I can easily say we abuse there products beyond what they should take as well and have never shown any sign of problems.

Well done EK. This is a good sign that if you do have any issues with EK they are supporting you.

Considering the number of blocks you have needed to return I'm surprised you still use them tbh, is it three or four now?

But it's a fact many people have easy rma - and other have eddy call them a lier publically before they back tracked and accepted they did have a quality control issue afterall.

My rma failed on a technicality that had nothing to do with the fault - but it's the managements attitude that provoked my ek purge (The blocks and designers are very good)

Edit

Your on record (many times) as saying nickel really shouldn't be used in watercooling - but ek would be a complete fool to not VIP your and OcUK requests.
B2B surport is vital, and Mayhems products make EK stuff look good in all the mag's and build logs.

2 and a further 2 that turned out to be only staining.

It's not about the problems, it's how they've been dealt with. From my personal experience, EK has ALWAYS helped me when needed and for that I am grateful and I continue to buy their products. Many companies are horrid with RMAs and I have since stopped using them for that very reason (HIS, XFX)

Surely the standard EK fluid will not corrode their own blocks.

They say in the kit instructions to use only EK approved fluid, is it really that hard to just do that? Even if you buy EK Clear pre-mix and use dyes as i have to create my own colour.

Unless of course im wrong and their own fluids are causing issues.....

Flaking, usual rubbish EK flaking problem, as advised take as good photos as you can, I took photos of the block before removing the plexi, after removing the plexi, after cleaning the block, and after trying to remove the "staining" with metal polish.

That way you are covered because there are reports of them squirming out of it.

This. EK ****** up their manufacturing process, but they didn't want to admit that they were at fault and blamed their customers for so called 'coolant problems'. Talk about shooting themselves in the foot - I'm sure if they said 'We cocked up on this one, we will replace all the blocks at our own cost' they would have a very good reputation.

So how come we don't see any reports of Aqua Computer/Heatkiller/XSPC/Swiftech ect nickel corrosion then (not to mention they are better looking than the CSQ 'design' of EK). :p

So both my (EN) gpu blocks which were RMA replacements have started to corrode.

I used mayhems for a month and went back to EK Ekoolant so I'm doubting it had anything to do with my choice of fluid. I've sent a few support tickets on their site and haven't heard anything back. Where do I go from here ?

Also is there even any point accepting replacement blocks seeing as they'll probably mess up in a few months again anyway ?
Good luck! Ocuk sent mine to ek in july not heard anything yet, think ocuk have grown tired of me asking about my watercooling kit.

I brought the kit so i have been using ekoolent since day one

Ask them to pull their finger/fist out and sent my kit back, if you dont mind:cool:

Here's an image of one of the blocks. It's the best I can do considering it's the iphone camera. I'm certain it's copper. I can even feel an indent as my nail touches the remaining nickel.

After I used mayhems for a month there was no corrosion so I highly doubt using the mayhems was to blame. I used EK Ekoolant after that for 5 months so my choice of fluid can't be to blame.

Making sense now ekoolent your blocks in 5 months, i had my kit for 6 months before i sent it back

Completely agree - except my EK experiance was simular to your xfx one.

Where as my MSI rma will make me always consider their hardware first - same as you with EK

Fair enough, let's agree to disagree :p

Ask them to pull their finger/fist out and sent my kit back, if you dont mind:cool:

Just email them politely asking if they'd be so kind to hurry up :p

So.. De-ionised water and mayhem's biocide is going to give me problems? HNNNNGGGGG

I recently sold my EK EN CPU and GPU blocks (Supreme HF and a 580 full cover block) and bought matching XSPC 580 Razor blocks instead. Much happier with them in terms of build quality and aesthetic design.

Below is a picture of the nickel corrosion on a pre-EN block that came attached to my second 580 that I bought from Shayper on the MM. I believe that block was less than 12 months old. If this is indeed the same thing, isn't this what the EN process was supposed to stop?

I felt more comfortable about my decision to switch to copper blocks after seeing the corrosion in the picture, but I'm sure I made the right choice given that not even the EN blocks seem to be trouble free.

I got screwed over by EK about a year ago.
Had to replace res, CPU block, both 470 blocks and all my tubing. They acted interested but were really just giving me the run around.
