Don't worry about it being overkill for your monitor, the 7850 will give it more punch for longer than a 6850, if you decide to get a new monitor somewhere down the line the 7850 will perform quite well at 1080p so long as you don't stick everything on ultra, 6850 on the other hand is an older card and will struggle performance wise way before a 7850 would
