Low wages and high commission.
High isn't the word! If you beat your sales margins in a month, you get a BIG percentage of the difference, but only 1 pay out a year, and that's in May. My mate works for them, his years bonus was around 7K for a normal store that isn't very big...he also worked on his own...crazy...
I did buy a Dominoes Meateor pizza today with a 50% off code, very tasty to be honest.
GW employees don't, or didn't when I worked there, receive commission based on sales, there's a performance based bonus once a year but this is based on mystery shopper performance. Jaffa-far; in your mates case it may be because he works in a one man store where the employee is trained to be a 'manager' and therefore would be entitled to a managers PDR which would give him a performance related increase should the shop expend financially ahead of GWs projections. None of the current employees at my local have mentioned commission when I ask how the wage has increased (I like to know I'm better off now
