That Vanu hasn't full capped the whole map is just fail on their part, almost all of both the NC / TR are constantly fighting in and around the perma-grind that is West Highlands... there is barely anyone left for you to fight with and you only managed to barely break out into NC territory for a little while before getting pushed back?![]()
think I'm going to cave in and purchase the alpha squad so i can get into the beta
before for i do buy it.... does it matter where i buy it from? is there a region/server selection? because so far seen planetside2.com planetside2.eu planetside-2.eu etc etc....does it matter?
Not that I am aware of. You pick what server you want to play on when you create your character.
bang tidy!
once ya make a character is it like bound to that one server? how many are there? where are most the people playing?
Yes, about 3 EU servers and 3 US? I can only speak for EU1 but thats always nicely packed.
I don't want to join a server and then find out i'm there with just loads of russians and no one i know or from here
the "battle" is just one big continuous thing for planetary region control isn't it?.... like the game "Risk" ? is it all just one big map which you play on or is it divided up into smaller sub sections, i.e. can you wander about the entire map in a ship... or if you want to move to a different area you have to log out and load into a different 'battle' ?
The battle is never ending until the servers go down, the map is divided into hexes which you attack to gain control of resources that the hexes produce. You log into the nearest friendly area i believe after you logout. You can explore the whole map after 1 load so there is no log out to get to another battle.
saw a few videos and it had the grids like risk on a global map divided into hexagons or some shaped quadrant. then in the game after they clicked on the region they went in and there was a facility or something with 4 spread out capture points. is that all there is per quadrant? and back to my previous question. say you capture and area, can you just go on foot/transport to the next quadrant or have to relog.
Each hex currently revolves around capturing some points to increase your influence and capture the base ( think bf3 capture mechanics) There are some variations to this such as blowing up shield gens to get to a point inside a large base.
is the map fully explorable from one load? can you venture as far as you like into enemy territory? can you cap random quadrants deep withing the enemy
You can only cap points currently which are adjacent to ones region or is it like risk where you have to attack adjacent areas only?
you currently own, map is fully explorable in one load you can go anywhere

Quick question, If i get the Alpha access would I be able to download it at work create a back up and take it home tonight? I have 8mb at work and 1mb adsl at home and it would take ages to download.
Is there any good videos to explain the basics?
Had a nice person run me through some of the super basics for about 30 minutes, but I still have no idea how to get vehicles etc so takes so long to get in on the action!
We are granting you a bonus key for your best fellow solider to use so they can join you on the battlefield. As you know, this epic fight is not for the faint of heart, so choose wisely!

Probably have to wait a while but you will eventually get in, it is a proper beta though so the vast majority of features are not currently in game just remember that.
