Currently have an iphone 4 which is now out of contract.

Which phone would you go for out of all of the above? Is there a new HTC around the corner? If so whens it out?

Users views would be good. Thanks

use my phone for the usual texting/emailing. use it also for online banking and managing my bills with various companies.

its also my sat nav and camera

All three phones are very good but its really between the S3 and iphone 5 as the Tegra powered One X has poor battery life.

If your happy with the iphone and Apple Eco system stick to the iphone however if you fancy a change get the S3.

Exactly what he said. Have a nice day.

I would wait for a while till we get the nexus devices in November etc. and then we should be getting a range of new phones by LG, SE, motorola as well, which all look very promising (on paper they look better than the GS 3, X and S!) and also should be getting the one XL, which has the 720P IPS screen of the X and the same design as the X, but has the S4 chipset instead of tegra 3, so it will be much better than the X especially in battery life, which supposedly is the best currently (better than the GS 3 and S).

But if you have to buy now/soon:

The one S/X and GS 3 have their strengths and weaknesses, they are more or less the same regarding the camera (for photos), audio (for the S and GS 3), battery life for the S and GS 3

Essentially you get the GS 3 for these reasons:

- SD slot
- removable battery
- best 1080P recording in terms of light metering and smoothness
- lovely 720P SAMOLED screen
- NFC
- great NLED
- great battery life

It is the most complete package currently.

You get the one X for these reasons:

- great IPS 720P screen
- design (subjective)
- sense V4 (subjective again, the gallery, camera, calendar etc. are far better than touchwiz alternatives and any other 3rd party app IMO)
- NFC
- the camera is great in terms of features/options and the UI

You get the one S for these reasons:

- S4 chipset, the best there is (the dual core is better overall compared to the quad in the GS 3 and X) excluding the new iphone 5 A15 dual core iirc
- amazing perceived/build quality
- design & size (subjective)
- great battery life (just edges the GS 3)
- sense V4 (subjective again, the gallery, camera, calendar etc. is far better than touchwiz alternatives and any other 3rd party app IMO)
- the camera is great in terms of features/options and the UI

As to which screen is better between the X and GS 3, that is up to you, many think the X screen is superior and vice versa for the GS 3 screen.

Iphone 5:

This will completely come down to whether you want/like iOS over android.

I can't add much to the above, except to re-iterate that you should give them all a try in a shop, but be weary of the One X - it's full of holes despite looking nice and having a great screen.

You can't really go far wrong either way though (as someone who clearly does like the iPhone), there isn't really a bad move.

Here's a guide I did for the Android phones: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18417660

And my personal review of the S3: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=22328119&postcount=10376

Hold fire on the iPhone 5 until it's been reviewed, then you'll have a better idea of what to expect when it comes to the battery life and so forth.

If i were to choose now after owning the One S for a few months i'd go for an S3 for the larger screen. Nothing wrong with the S to make me say that i just think now i'm used to a largish phone i could manage with something even bigger. I mean i'd have to sacrifice how awesome the S feels to hold and use ;) but it would be worth it i think. And the added benefit of an SD card of course.

think i will wait for a bit as im now on a rolling monthly contract.

is the htc one XL coming over here soon? i know htc have a big event next week maybe it will be revealed?

Yes, the XL is available from Everything Everywhere for use on their 4G network.

The XL is a good bit better than the X in my opinion.

Good on Apple for taking it upon themselves to drive the ARM CPU progress :)

Hoping for atleast Krait in this years Nexus - A9 is soo old hat!

I really hope the new Nexus phone is finally a killer device, no crap camera, old internals and tiny amount of storage please.

I fear it will be though, Samsung and co won't like it if Google release a one-size-fits-all killer device. :(

Meh.

I soo want 2GB Ram in my next phone - only choice is LG-G, HTC-5 and S3-LTE at the mo.

However - the aesthetics of a phone could easily sway me to look past the 2GB.

Yeah wasn't too sure which one the new iphone was using, stopped reading all info. after about 4 hours of it being announced when there was still confusion as to which one it was, was boring me too much :p :D

I would imagine the next nexus(s) will be pretty much similar to the current top android phones (S, GS 3 and X), although pretty much guaranteed the camera won't be as good and will still have no SD slot and limited internal storage (16GB, possibly one of them will have 32GB), really hope they have great battery life as well.

Though One X battery life isn't great compared to some it's not too bad either. Admittedly I'm using the Viper S rom, but does the day through no problem. Charge every night and comes off charge at 6am. Depending on use can be down to 20% by 11pm with 3.5 hrs screen on. Often as not I have 30 to 45% by 11pm with light use - maybe 30mins of calls, email synching, some browsing and around 1.5hrs screen on. Screen I have set to auto brightness which works quite well. There have been plenty of faulty One X's but the later ones are maybe better or I've been lucky with mine as it's been sound :) May not be the best out of the 4 you mention but still a nice phone with a great screen.

Any of the 4 phones will do the job well I expect though as ever there may be better phones coming out in the none to distant future. May be worth a wait until winter? Good luck choosing :D
