Not very often I speak about my work, and of course never break confidentiality.

today we had a patient who had his dog brought in, he was very unwell. The dog snuggled in and got very excited at seeing his master and best friend.

He unfortunately became so unwell we asked the family to leave so that we could help him, we weren't able to and he passed away. We called the family back in and the dog sat on the bed and howled in sadness.....:(:(:(

It's my job to keep it together in these moments but I just couldn't and blubbed. In fact all the nurse and medics did, it was a shared moment. Just thought I'd share and if you have a pet, just go give them a hug....

Have just kissed both my kittens, one of whom is snuggled up on me right now

A few years ago my dad was walking one of my dogs, Bertie the labradoodle, when he collapsed and died of a heart attack. That is the only time that Bertie has ran away from home, it took a long time for him to get back to being normal :(

Sorry to hear that Flare. Dogs are just so intuitive of our feelings. I'm sure it messes them up a little, feeling all lost and sad.
