I'm in the market for a new GFX card, here are the contenders.

Gigabyte GTX 660 windforce 2X - http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Gigabyte/GTX_660_OC/

Gigabyte GTX 660tiOC - http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4319#ov

Reference Gainward GTX670 - http://www.gainward.com/main/vgapro.php?id=881&lang=en

Gigabyte GTX670 Windforce 2X (the 3X is too much money) - http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4282#ov

I'm coming from a GTX570 and all these cards will fit into my colour scheme, so do I save money with the GTX 660 and be happy with similar levels of performance to my GXT570 that I sold recently or splash the cash for more powwrrrrrr.

I game at 1080p.

I'd go for the 670 WF 2X, will be a nice jump from the 570, quiet and comes backed with that 3 year UK based warranty.

No AMD options, just a sad Nvidia fan.

As for games, all really,

BF3
Rage
Portal2
Crysis2
Diablo3

Although I am tempted by the 670 as your gaming @ 1080 the 660 should do you well and save a few quid :)

Moved from a 470 (overclocked to 480 speeds) to a 7950 but only because I upped the monitor from 1920x1200 to 2560x1440- the 470 was fine at the lower res. - Would grant that I am not bothered about all the pretties (4 x aa is good to me) or massive fps.(above 30 and I'm ok)

Probably comes down to how often you want to upgrade.

A 660 will probably need replacing next year or as soon as the next gen consoles come out.

A 670 might last a couple years (might).

I was planning on buying a 660 but have been very underwhelmed by their price/£. It's all about AMD's 8000 series for me now. Roll on 2013 :)

Our last few comments concern the 660 Ti's 192-bit memory interface. Our benchmarks show that this can really put Nvidia's GeForce GTX 660 Ti at a disadvantage, even at 1920x1080 and without obscene texture detail settings. Whether or not you run into a performance problem depends mostly on the game you're playing. In general, though, the card really starts to run out of steam at anti-aliasing settings at and beyond 4x MSAA. This is too bad, since the GPU goes underutilized at that point. The problem is unique to this card. None of the other Kepler-based boards experience it. We're not saying the GeForce GTX 660 Ti is a bad card, but there are competing configurations that demonstrate better balance.

I think the memory interface on the 660Ti will be really limiting on newer games, and the 670 reference will sound like a jet engine. I think a 7950 is more what you should be going for though, the bang/buck is so much better.

I can't see it ever happening @ Stulid getting any AMD card. Why?. Not got a clue :D. It would save him a lot of money in this instance. Everyone seems very happy with them but it's his money and the GTX 670 is a powerful card on it's own, just a bit more expensive :(.

670 non ref is the best bet as you said for the Nvidia cards. If the 2X is as quiet as the 3X and hearing the card would bother you, then get the 2X if you're going with the 670.

definately dont buy a 660, the performance is almost identical to a 570 you wouldn't even notice the difference.

of those options, I voted GTX 670 windforce 2X too. The 660's are simply too cut down. Kepler GK104 is already memory bandwidth limited (hence why the Tahiti does so much better at high res), so getting one with a 192-bit bus is not a good idea.

But but

1) it can do better depending on the game
2) stulid has already stated 1080p so kind of an irrelevant point even if it was true
3) stulid has already stated as well that he wants a nVidia card so any AMD talk is off topic

:p

The problems with sweeping generalisations like you've made is that they're rarely true.

stulid I can get a winforce x3 for £308 inc Dirt Showdown, Sleeping Dogs and torchlight unfortunately from a competitor. It would be great if OCUK could match as they have a 14 day dsr and 5ub customer service. But if it's cheaper elsewhere then why not go for that plus you're getting the x3 version.
