Hello please refer to this post

ORIGINAL THREAD:

My first post I hope this is the right section, I'll get straight to the point.

Currently, My PC:

Asus P6T Deluxe
Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz (Nehalem)
Asus GeForce GTX 480 1536MB GDDR5
Patriot Viper 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz
Asus Xonar D2X 7.1 PCI-E Sound Card
2x Samsung 22" Monitor

I don't have a maximum budget but less then 2k would be great. I plan to pass this PC along to brother or my brother would buy the new PC.

It would need to be as fast or faster, It is used for Gaming, Programming and Trading. Not bothered about the Case, ideally something easy to manage and easy access to dust filters.

I require new Monitors of atleast 22" (1680x1050) bigger would be preferable, I would like a build that can handle 3, but 2 would be fine (if the cost is out of proportion). I do require a sound card for my headset. If my brother is the one to buy the PC he will need a small set of speakers.

Things I don't need:
Mouse, Keyboard, OS, Headset

I think I covered everything but if Not i will reply and edit this post to contain the updated information,

EDIT:
I guess I could use Onboard sound instead of Soundcard if that helps anything.

Thanks

Jamie

Does the i7 not require Triple Channel ? My i7 920 does/did Has this been changed? (I've been out of touch on the hardware side of things for a while)

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll carry on looking through it, Also might I ask is there a need for 2x Gphx card?

Dunn2010 and Idleman in relation to my current PC, how much of an improvement/faster would there be, are you able to give me a figure(s) for this?

I only ask because some of the trading programs are speed sensetive.

Can you explain abit more please?

Speed sensetive as in, it gets to fast / good and it will brake them?

what programs are they?

Yes sorry, when I mean speed sensitive, I need to process new data as fast as possible. Currently my PC is just fast enough, but I want to develop the program further (Add more calculations) but I don't think my current PC would be fast enough.

Don`t know the sort of software you use, maybe this will help you decide.

Thanks, this helped a fair bit.

It will be faster and with a good CPU heatsink you can OC that I7 to 4.5 GHZ easy.

then whatever program you use > open task manager > go to processes. find the process relating to the software > right click it > change priority and set it to high.

Will force computer to throw more CPU power at it. but will slow other apps down.

The 6 Core CPU Does sound nice and would help a lot.

Would it be safe OC'ing that to 4.5GHZ?
