Hi,

I am needing new front tyres on my Z4 but I really don't know anything on the tyres which are available on larger sizes. I will of course want to match my rears in the future so it needs to be available in both my sizes. I am not going for run flats, instead I will just carry tyre foam around with me.

Front tyre size - 225/40/18
Rear tyre size - 255/35/18

As I do a lot of motorway, doing ~15k miles a year, I would like some tyres that wear well, as afterall the cost per mile is the only important cost. Any suggestions?

Continental SportContact 5s or Goodyear F1 Assy 2s would be my recommendations.

Both last similar amount of miles to each other? I did notice the Goodyear had the best rolling resistance on the Evo tyre test.

I see people using Falken FK452's on the Z4 forum, I assume they are not the best?

Sod FK452s! I test drove a Z4 3.0si on Uniroyal Rainsport 2s and it was sliding all over the shop (in the rain, ironically). Falkens will probably be the same, if not worse so not really for me.

I'm tempted to recommend Michelin PS2s as they are excellent and last for absolutely ages. They are getting on a bit these days, however.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport is an option, more expensive per tyre but it has a far better wear rate meaning but it could be cheaper in the long run.

Lovetyres.com will give you the best prices on F1A2's (and most other tyres!) in this size (and most other sizes!). About £510 delivered.

Thanks for the link! Hopefully my preferred garage will match the price, makes it easier than getting the tyres delivered to the house.

I've just come from PS2s -> CSC5s and am very impressed - especially in the wet - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=22834757#post22834757

I haven't tried the new goodyears though.

People love them because they are half the price of the decent stuff.

Exactly, FK452s are terrible on BMWs.

They seem to work well on a couple of cars, but not many... I liked them on my scoob, despite the tramlining.
