HTC to stop shipping phones with power adapters.

I still have my original Desire charger but it would **** me off not to get a new charger with a new phone.

So now, in addition to trying to flog over priced phone insurance and utterly pointless technical helpline cover, O2 stores will also be trying to flog expensive chargers to customers who by phones :D

They may also state a min/max amp requirement, 750mA?

Could cause issues with some cheapo chargers. Or confusion amongst punters!

That's me not buying a HTC then. Each time I get a new phone, I sell the old one boxed with all cables and charger, so I don't have spares.

No big deal as many people have loads of them lying around. They stopped shipping them with Kindles a while back. Mind you that was just another ploy to get some people to spend more money. Watch out for that little new extra you can buy. ;)

Well this was the whole point of unifying the hole in the phone to micro-usb, I'm sure others will follow suit shortly.

Errr, lol? You can just a charger you know.

An extra charge on top of the cost of the phone, when it should be included with the phone? No thanks. It's like buying a pair of shoes, and then having to buy laces so you can use them.

I'll stick to the other brands, thank you very much.

This is a great move, with the standard of data pin shorting going accross all the big providers this was just a matter of time and I'm glad they have done it.

It's nothing like laces as they are bespoke to the product (length, colour) - all USB micro chargers are the same. This is the most bizarre reason I've ever seen for someone avoiding a specific manufacturer, you want them to be less green and more wasteful?

all USB micro chargers are the same.

They aren't. They vary on the power they carry which is why you get some that charge devices faster than others.

I'd rather get a decent one with the phone that charges at the device at a decent rate than have to fork out/go to the hassle of buying one that might be naff.
