Fox news show live suicide by mistake

And now, for a world first, an attempted suicide live on tv!

Budd Dwyer comes close to claiming that title...

One of the first suicide videos I ever saw on the internet and that one is gory! Whilst it wasn't strictly live, it was being televised and a few companies pretty much showed the whole thing. Those decisions alone show how squeamish modern audience have become as nowadays they'd never show anything past him opening the envelope.

Squeamish audiences is a very odd choice of wording. I'd say it demonstrates a more morally responsible media.

Also, one of the first suicide videos you've watched?

Sorry, but that's just really weird.

Sorry, but that's just really weird.

It goes like this

1. Be mildly curious about suicide videos through stories like this
2. Read more on story
3. Site links to other site which links to other site on similar stories
4. Find suicide video, think "no way I'm watching that"
5. Come back to it in a few days anyway
6. Watch video with eyes half closed
7. Watch another linked in sidebar
8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 irregularly for a number of years
9. Also watch various dodgy porn/sadism videos
10. Become a completely desensitised vegetable

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how I got to stage ten. I kind of wish I hadn't started.

I'm not saying that you look at them all day.

But yeah, it is really weird of you to want to look at people killing themselves. Sorry!

It's pretty normal. With the internet its pretty easy to see videos of deaths. Worst one I remember was a video of a terrorist cutting a guys head off with a knife. The worst part was the horrible noises

Was that the classic "Chechen execution video"?

Bloody hell, one of the very first things I did with an internet connection was go to rotten.com

I think it was the second place I ever visited after Hotmail.

I've seen worse on the internet so it didn't affect me.

I didn't think it was weird to search for these videos, I thought it was just natural curiousity but hey ho.

It actually makes me feel sick-to-the-stomach. Its been over a few minutes and its slowly starting to subside.

The wierd thing is im normally not affected by gore and my day to day job involves blood/ surgery.

I don't think many people actively seek suicide videos, but it's easy to stumble across them on the internet by reading threads like this and looking at related stories.

Years ago when I was more curious, I watched several of those gore videos on places like rotten.com like middle east beheadings, russian beheadings and the Budd Dwyer one. I don't and can't watch those type of videos anymore as I find them just too disturbing and traumatic. I'm not even going to bother finding this one.

Watched the video, and tbh not sure what I was expecting but as far as videos go it is not bad to watch. Just drops down like a sack of spuds, happens so quick!

I thought if anything the video makes suicide look a lot easier. It's over so quickly and looks almost painless.
