hey guys,

just want to know if two gtx670's would be overkill for 1080p and would i make more use if i got a higer res monitor, only problem is i feel paying £300+ for a monitor abit silly, unless it really does make gaming that much better and more enjoyable

so if i budget myslef to £1000, could you guys spec me the best graphical experience ie two gtx670's and a high res monitor etc

i have a 23" 1080p samsung monitor atm and i would like a bigger one, 27" would be ideal

btw i would like to stay with the green side :)

thanks

not really looking for 3D, just want to have a bigger monitor with a lot of graphic power.

high res monitors not look any better in games than 1080p?

Again another 670 owner here and at 1080p it doesn't really struggle with anything at highest settings. You will be wasting the money on a second. At 1440p it would be more worth while but you could just knock down a couple of settings which effect fps more than visuals, what do you play?

Personally i'd probably upgrade to Ivy and get a 670.

BF3, MW3 witcher 2 crysis 2 shogun total war 2 skyrim (with mods) c&c generals 2 COH 2 etc..

a very large list of games lol

BF3 would be no problem at all at 1080p, probably about 45 fps at 1440p. Could knock off a few heavy things off the settings to drop the frame rate without losing a lot of image quality though.

I have an iiyama e2773hds, 1ms responce time, image quality is superb. 27", about £230 I got it for, OCUK don't stock it anymore. :(

also whats the noise/temps like between the teo EVGA models mentioned above?

the other half has got me the FD R4 as a gift so the white/black 670 would work a treat :D anyway enough of the matching colours lol.

so am i looking at noisy and hot cards here?

awww dam!, i would put a order in right now if they still had them :(

Defy Belief, is your EVGA FTW card noisy and hot?

Nope, very quiet under load and peaks at 59 degrees on BF at ultra settings.

Also just been playing around with injectors etc and it seems to decrease the temps. :o 57.

The standard evga coolers are apparently very noisy, and not so cool. The 670 FTW has a 680 pcb and cooler.

is the cpu/mobo upgrade going to be a big upgrade tho?

i was going to leave the cpu/mobo as its still going fine and hasent caused me any problems

Even if you had the first gen i5 already?

I would get one of the monitors and one 670 EVGA FTW test it
Probably doesn't need it, I just would if I had the money. :D

I agree with buying a monitor and a single 670 though, you will probably be pleasantly surprised how well it performs - I know I was.

My 2 670's are more than enough for any game Ive played @2560x1440

For 2x670's you will need pci-e 3 as they will bottle neck as i found out on my x58 platform.

1x 670 is enough for 1080 but you will need 2 for 2560x1440.

Personally i would get the gpu's and monitor as you notice more of an improvemt over a new mobo and cpu but they will still be bottlenecked so will need both in the long run if you want 100% from your componants.
