help? 7850 just arrived

No Problem :)

It all looks perfect on my monitor so there is nothing wrong with the feed from the GPU.

Are you using DVI or HDMI to connect to the Monitor?

HDMI for the first time, OcUK 1.8m Gold plated one

Looking at the album you can barely see the text, http://i.imgur.com/EWCFZ.jpg try to read the quest dialog on that and see if it's fine for you then :)

Quest text is clear as day for me, as is the whole image. Have you run Cleartype since installing the card? Might also be worth checking the settings in CCC.

I find that HDMI is much worse quality than DVI, if you switch to DVI i'm sure it will sort it.

Just changed over from HDMI to DVI like humbug suggest. All sorted, can actually read the text without squiting now! And I thought HDMI would be the best quality! Thanks for all the feedback guys and girls, thought I had wasted the best part of £200 but clearly not :)

Just had another crash, I'm guessing someone's going to tell me it's my power supply now. Checking Event Viewer and I'm just getting
'The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.', No BSOD this time.

Actually can you post your full system specs including any overclocks.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, just had an operation and still feeling a bit dizzy.

well f5 is an old bios 2010 in fact, first thing id do is update to latest bios which is f8a

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3305#bios

make a note of all your bios pages and settings before you update the bios as it will wipe them, take pics of each page with phone ect,you also might need to flash with @BIOS as qflash wont support bios's larger than 1mb untill you update the whole lot qflash inc with @BIOS

You lost me on bios.

You need to update the BIOS on your motherboard. Google it, and make sure to take pics of your settings as wazza suggested, so you can change anything back again that you've altered.

How do I check my BIOS settings? I've got a picture of versions and dates, anything else I should copy?

you press delete at the gigabyte splash screen,go in all the pages and take pics so not to lose any settings

then click the link i posted select the operating system your using and download the latest bios, theres already been pci and pci-e improvements ect

then select utilities from that wepage and download @BIOS and flash the bios file

So I downloaded F8A, extracted it and when using FLASHSPI I get an error saying I'm not using the right version of windows.

Do you mean use Setup from atBIOS and then use the F8A file? I've got 3 of them, an .exe a batch file and a 'X58AUD3R.F8A'. Which one of these is considered a bin file? xD Appreciate the help. Honestly.

You got a spare usb stick? gigabyte boards are great for updating through that. It's called Q-flash, I think you press the "end" key when computer is loading but you will see it listed as one of the options anyway.

Simply put the bios update on a usb stick, load Q-flash and then it will only allow you to select the correct file. Let it update and you are done :]

try with the exe,i cant remember off hand it will only flash one of them

as for qflash you cant use it as it wont support bios's larger than 1mb,this is down to including 3tb support, once youve updated through @BIOS you can go back to using qflash as it will be updated
