Ive started fitting my arctic accelero extreme 3, but the thermal glue that it comes with is set in the packet so i have no way of now fitting the heatsinks.

Is there any other way of getting around this?

I used the Akasa thermal tape on both cards heat sinks as I had already used my cooler on my old 5870 previous to the 6950, 4 months later the ram heat sinks are still stuck on solid. Should the card need an rma, there would be much less of a chance of noticing that there was a different cooler on it because no glue would have been used.
It puzzles me why AC are now using glue instead of frag tape, especially as the frag tape used on the 5870 extreme ram sinks was vastly improved and they were stuck on rock solid, it's that good the original AC frag tape is still on one of the ram heat sinks being re-used a second time!
AC took a lot of flack for the frag tape used on previous AC coolers like the Twin Turbo which I have also used where the ram sinks would fall off quite easily.

OcUk sell it but it's out of stock.

Buy some of the Akasa tape as suggested above. I have always used it and never had a heatsink fall off. Easy enough to remove when upgrading too.

Tommy's right on the Akasa thermal tape. He helped me out, It worked perfect on my arctic accelero cooler for 7850. The heat sinks are still in place:) Need use the crappy glue they give you.

When I found out ocuk was out of stock I went to maplins and they had bunch in. Just make sure you clean off the ram chips and the heat sinks with a cotton swab. You'll be all set.

There's nothing wrong with g1 thermal glue it works fine I have used it in the past but it takes like 24 hours to set and not 60 minutes or 6 hours like they claim the key is to make sure you mix it for 5 mins and btw it turns in to thermal pad like material once set and is easy to take off.

I know the glue works, but most people don't want to wait. I didn't....The thermal tape works better if you clean everything right.

I cant find anywhere around that sells any, supplier is sending out some more tonight, to be honest, it looks a nightmare to fit.

The Akasa thermal tape? It's simple. Cut to size, peel off one side of the protective film and stick it to the heatsink then peel off the other side and stick it to the memory chip or vrm/mosfets.

Great thanks, Im trying to flog my card and cooler on the MM to save myself the bother of fitting it, it just looks a nightmare to be honest and I dont want to risk it, if i dont sell it though ill give it another bash when i get some tape

It's easier then you think. I saw my friend do mine and he never did it before either. I watched a few youtube vid's and he did it in 20 mins. I think after doing it with him I can do it on my own now.

Got a tech labs vga cooler coming this friday from OcUK and the reviews say the heatsinks glue is crappy so just ordered some of this tape off fleajay, more costly than ocuk but need it for this week.

Just make sure the vrm and heat sinks are totally clean. cotton swab work great.

They're exposed atm with nothing stuck to them on the VTX3D 7970. Do I still need to clean them? was thinking to just blow the dust off if there is any.

I removed the tim from the core then used an eraser on the rams in order to clean any residue left from the heatpads, then I went over the memory with the eraser again to ensure that the heatsinks would stick well with some frag tape.

The more you clean them the better the tape/heatsinks sticks.
