Chipped through ball is overpowered once again. They lowered the effectiveness last year and this year its back in.

There's no point to even pass when the CPU decides to pull your defenders so far out that any chipped through ball means a 1 v 1 against the keeper. Even if the defenders are in the right position you can be sure that he's going to miscontrol it and gift a chance to the opponent striker. :o

sigh, division one is so full of pacey teams.

nearly everyone i play plays 4321 with either of these players up front, chamberlain/mirallas/sturridge/arshavin/hernandez/, sturridge being the most used.

and cech is so OP!

currently using a 4312 serie a team.

Stek
Leighsteiner-Lucio-Samuel-Periera
Pirlo-Machisio-Nocerino
Cassano
Vucinic-Milito

Prilo doesnt seem....anything special?
when i put him in the middle of the 3 CMs he rarely gets used.
so tried him outside to the right, but still...not much change.
loving my front two :D
strong/good heading and good shooting/passing.

and my two CBs are brick walls :D
Periera is also so good, rarely makes mistakes and even though hes only 82 pace, he can catch up to nearly anyone! so strong as well.

Thinking of selling pirlo and replacing a couple of players.
Pirlo->De Rossi
Lucio->Barzagli
Stek-> that italian keeper for Lazio :D

any input is appreciated guys, thanks.

I know what you mean about the chipped through ball. Every game I play online they use it every attack. I hope EA fix it as it is really annoying.

Does anyone else get the problem with the midfield being non existent? so it is your back four against the opposition attack on every attack?

I still think lofted through balls were worse last year in terms of accuracy.

My biggest problem is still Fullbacks bombing forward at any given moment leaving space in behind to be exploited at the will of my opponent. And people wonder why players like to use 5 in the back in FIFA it solves a lot of the defensive problems in the game. I usually find myself 2 against 3 or 4 in defence but that's what you get for trying to play an attacking game in FIFA you just get counter attacked very easily.

Not sure what to think about the game as when I play all manual matches none of the issues above are noticeable the tempo of the game slows down and it's all about finding accurate passes via player skill rather than player traits and attributes influencing 90% of the game. Think I may stick to full manual controls as long as I keep finding matches as frequently as I am at the moment. It's a very different game with a change of control settings almost makes me wonder why FIFA has assisted controls in the game for online player at least in Seasons and Clubs.

Ugh manual controls - dont know how you do it. Can barely hit a barn door with them on!

For shooting it's as hard as you say but for passing/through balls/crosses it's all about taking the time to power/aim correctly and within an hour you won't have to think about each pass you're making. Still think the game would be better without assisted based on personal experience with FIFA 13 if nothing else even if it meant Semi everything instead at least there's more user error involved in a match.

Pirlo works better as a CDM or CF IMO. If you have him just behind the strikers or sitting deep and pinging balls around the field. Thats what I've found with Fifa 13 Pirlo. He is really effective but you need to play to his game instead of your own if you get what I mean.

Div 1 is certainly tough but you can do it with that team. I just won the division after 5 attempts.

Agree with the Pirlo in CDM sentiment he's fantastic in that position.

yeah, I feel in CM he is kinda useless as his vision can't really be used there. If you have him ready to supply a through ball to a striker that is about to make a run then his vision comes into play. When I play him in CDM I change my tactics to "long ball" and pass it to my wide men.

In this fifa it really does help if you hold the ball and wait for a player to make a run.

I really want to build a full man utd team but the prices of Rooney and RVP are putting me off. I have so much coin right now I don't want to do what I did last year and spend it on impulse.

This is what I'd build. Change it to 4-2-1-3 custom with Rooney pushed into a CF posision.

It would cost over 300k.

I used Pirlo in the normal seasons mode as he's always the most influential player in my team when I use Italy or Juventus. Even if it's only to slow the tempo of the game down and pick out cross field passes he's just always an option there. In ultimate team I have a premier league side so can't speak for his influence on proceedings as much in that mode, but I'd imagine he'll still be a game changer.

A Utd team would be pretty deadly in ultimate team especially with a Rooney in CM - Pace to go with great long distance shooting. And a pacey/strong back 4. I'm moulding my team around Gerrard and Lampard at the moment (3-4-2-1 )

Urgh, I'm really starting to hate pace abusers on this game. While I do have 2 very quick wingers and 1 quick striker, I don't really abuse their pace as I enjoy passing it around and looking for gaps and exploiting them. I'm sick of coming up against teams like the one I faced last night, which had a forward 3 of Oxlade-Chamberlain, Javier Hernandez, and Podolski. Every time he got the ball - through ball over the top, and my defenders couldn't cope with the speed.

It's gotten so annoying I ended up buying Podolski for my Bundesliga team last night so at least if I come up against someone who abuses pace, I have the option to fight fire with fire. Seriously considering buying Dede as well for the back 4, as then I would have two Brazilian CBs with pace over 80, which might not hit my chemistry too much, and at least give me a chance to cope with the pacey strikers I'm always coming up against.

Do cards that get stat increases, do there stats make them much better in game? Like would my standard ballotelli, 84 Pace - 82 Shooting - 69 Pass - 84 Dribb - 50 Def - 73 Hea, be much worse than this one I acquired, 95 Pace - 94 Shoot - 80 Pass - 94 Dribb - 60 Def - 83 Heading?

Don't know which one to sell lol
