You mean change the law to make it illegal to cycle through red lights?
I think it's about time cyclists were forced to acknowledge that the roads are for cars. They can ride on the roads, but they have to promise to stick to the gutter and stay the hell out of the way. They also have to agree to have a bomb implanted into the base of their skull, attached to a GPS receiver - when the GPS receiver detects a speed of over 15mph, the bomb is armed. If the cyclist drops below 15mph, the bomb explodes, à la Speed. If they don't like it, they should get a car and sit in it like every normal human being does.
no to make it so that they can actually be caught by the systems in place for monitoring people who run red lights.
Lack of registration plate might be an issue
!
If we want registration plates for bikes, we should staple some to horses asses as well - I see them running red lights all the time!

That would be the change in the law.
really?
there are at least 3 stables within 2 miles of where i live that i know of and never seen a horse run a red.
Registration for bikes is a stupid idea.
ok give me youre password and ill look at it.My commute to work by bike - car is 10-20mins longer.
My fave issue is the ones who ride side by side along a main road ignoring the purpose built cycle lane because its not good enough.
why is it, it's the only way that the cameras for stopping them running red lights would work.
why exactly is it "stupid" ?

Its things like this that we pay insurance for. Further to that, I'd add that many Cyclists do have insurance. Pretty much anyone with a half decent bike will have it insured and most policies offer 3rd party coverage of a few million for just a £1 more. I myself have something like coverage for up to £5 million if there was an issue.
Sorry but I don't pay my insurance for some muppet to damage my car and ride off without any form of recompense, only to then be deemed "at fault" as theres no evidence of other party to pay out of my own pocket for the damage and to lose any NCB I may have.
The same that there are for politiciansWhat punishments are available to be applied to cyclists that break the law?
