Hi guys. Me and the missus are moving into a house together within the next month or two and we're trying to figure out what you need to budget for. So far we've made the following list. I'm just wondering have we missed anything out?

I should add we've budgetted for the high end, just to be safe.

Wage = £1730
-------
RENT - £500
Council Tax - £100
Car Insurance - £85
Food - £250
Phone bill - £80
Gas/ Elec/Water - £130
TV Liscence - £15
Net (76mb)/PHONE (Evening/weekends) with BT £36
Fuel £100
Car finance – 180

I fail to see how two people would spend more then £250 a month on food, she's the cook. We've done a weeks shop on £40 and had lovely meals.

bye bye life as you know it

your food bill is too low and why have you told us the mb of your internet?

£250 a month on food is MORE than enough for 2 people :/

Me and the missus rarely spend more than £50 on food, and that's with some booze thrown in usually as well for the weekend

100 a month on fuel seems very low unless you dont drive any where. How ab out contents insurance and pensions?

Toilet roll ;)

We spend more like £400 on shopping as a whole per month (so food, cleaning products, meals out) but gas/water/elec is more like £60. Everything else seems reasonable.

No it isn't

well. maybe. but if you recorded every bit of cash you spent on food and drink over a month, i would bet that you spend more than £250. the odd sandwich at work, snack etc all need to be accounted for. not just what you walk out of the supermarket with.

We thought the £250 food bill will include things like shampoo etc. Fuel, our car does about 370 miles/tank which costs £60 to fill. Work will be within 5-10 miles out. If that helps?

How about home insurance? And if you have car finance/fuel then what about tax, insurance, MOT, servicing and a repair fund.

The house we've viewed is £475/month with £893/year council tax, so we've already over budgeted on that. But then another house might come up.

food bill seems fine not everyone wants to do their main shop at marks and spencers or buy a silly amount of meat every week.

i probably only spend 20-30 quid a week on my own food budget and thats eating a lot of chicken aswell

We will still have £300 free cash per month after the budget I've listed, so when tax comes around etc, should be covered.
