Anyone following the Phil ivey saga....very interesting. I like the mention of the mysterious oriental woman, intriguing.

BRITAIN'S oldest casino is investigating a £7.3 million ($11.5 million) win by the world's top poker player - and is refusing to pay him a penny.
Crockfords, an exclusive gaming club in London's Mayfair, has informed the authorities that it is withholding Phil Ivey’s payout. A source with close knowledge of the dispute described the situation as unprecedented.
Accompanied by a "beautiful Oriental woman", Mr Ivey, a 35-year-old Californian, was playing Punto Banco, which is a skill-free variant of baccarat, when he struck a remarkable winning streak.
The 184-year-old casino initially agreed to transfer the winnings to his bank account, but six weeks on it has returned only his £1 million stake.
Instead it began an exhaustive inquiry. Staff, including the female croupier, were interviewed at length amid fears there may have been some form of collusion. This is thought to have been ruled out.
While it is unclear what, if anything, Mr Ivey has been accused of, lawyers for both sides are said to be engaged in an increasingly tense stand-off. It is not thought that police have been alerted.
Sources said Mr Ivey played for two nights over the August bank holiday for about seven hours in all. Suspicions over the win intensified when it was discovered that his companion’s membership of another Mayfair casino had previously been suspended. The reason for this has not been revealed.

Wow that's crazy.

Is it just because he was with 'someone' and not on his own, alos would they still withhold the payment if it was just some average joe playing?

Does seem very odd that he would need to even consider 'colluding' to win with the amount of money he has won in past tournaments and cash games.

And upon further reading of the article. Why on earth would it matter for what length of time he played for? Surely just having him in the club would be enough of a pull for people to come in and play also.

Also it does day he was playing £50,000 to £150,000 a hand, so I'm sure if you win a few turns, the return on that is going to be quite big I'd say.

From reading that I gathered that the person who was with him had previously been banned from another London casino.

I don't really know anything about Baccarat, but I thought most payouts were close to evens?

I have played it on Vegas and it's evens on player and evens wth a 5% commission on Banker, think its 9/1 for the tie but never seen anyone bet that

what online room do you guys play on? fancy depositing a small roll and grinding some SNGs.

has anyone tried that book by veneer, building a bankroll? I've heard good things but I think it's just micro stake cash games

Have people heard about Full Tilt Poker re-opening on the 6th November?

It's now owned by the same company who own Pokerstars.

Do people think it'll go back to the point where it was before, with most of the big name players etc?

I for one, hope it does as it still has the best software by miles and had the best tournaments

I hope so, loved their rush poker tournaments

Not played online in a long time, got pretty fed up and started to prefer live games.

Just had a short good run, bought in £30. Won an 18 man $15 ($100) and a $15 four man heads up ($60), then winning a $30 heads up, followed by a $60 heads up.

Break time. Cash tables later...

Thanks, up to £270/$435 from £30 on the 19th.

Been playing heads up cash $0.50/1.00, sat down a few times now and taken the other persons stack. Trying to play sensibly and take regular breaks.

Atm, I'm only playing the lowest ring cash games, 1 / 2c blinds, and can hardly wait until I'm hitting the .50 / $1 games (even the 10 / 25c will make a massive difference to how fast my bankroll grows). I think one of the mistakes I used to make was playing too much. In the end I got stale, and felt constantly under pressure to get results. Now, if I have KK and end up having to go all in and lose, it doesn't bother me. As long as I make the right play, that's all that matters to me.

I'm playing on 888 poker, playing $1 SNGs. Just trying to focus on upping my game and taking the money out of the equation, though the downside is at this limit people don't really respect your raises.

My bankroll has pretty stayed the same, I won a lot initially but then took a small downswing and now just hovering at what I deposited. My weakness is I start to panic a bit when I'm less than 10 BB's, and I'm just not getting any decent hands. I try and loosen up but end up messing up somehow. Any tips from SNG gurus?

I find that instead of waiting for a premium hand, play a hand that is likely to have live cards against your opponent leaving you with outs, ideally suited connectors, thats what i tend to do, even if there low cards, like 3/4/5

Thanks for the tip, do you tend to start playing suited connectors or suited gap connectors when the blinds are getting significant portion of your stack? How do you usually play them in this situation? Raise?

I've been playing poker on and off for 3 years with no real success. I actually have this book : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sit-Go-Stra...5396/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1350850272&sr=8-1 but I haven't read through it all yet... I suppose I really should

Hi.

Has anyone had experience playing on WSOP.com?

I've just gone to cashout and have been hit by a spread between deposit and withdrawl of basically 7.5%. What that has meant is as soon as I deposit £100 I immediately loose £7.50 when I withdraw.

Has anyone else come across this?

I suppose I learn my lesson from this, but nowhere does it tell you what conversion rate they use for withdrawl until they complete the transaction and put the money in my account.

It's basically cost me about £100.
