How long does your PS3 Controller last on charge?

Hi guys,

I stream films through my PS3 and I use the Dual Shock controller as the remote. I have the auto turn off setting (after 3 mins) enabled.

I seem to have to charge the controller every week and I wasn't sure if this was normal? No gaming, just remote control with auto-off after 3 mins of inactivity.

Is this normal?

Mine lasts quite a while, even when it gives you the alert that tells you when it needs charging mine still lasts for a few hours after that. I think the vibration function is the biggest drain.

Mines lasted probably 6 months or so, though saying that I probably used it like 5 times during then. Shows it can hold a charge for a long period of time

Mine will easily last 15 hours of gaming, and its one of the first ds3s so is quite old and has many war wounds. I've started plugging mine in once the ps3 is off so that it gets topped up when the auto update happens in the early hours.

Sounds about right. The Bluetooth remote is worth having for this reason alone.

Bluetooth remote is good but there are a couple things I don't like about it. There is no off button so if you want to turn the PS off when the TV is either off or on a TV channel, you have to remember the button sequence; hold PS button, enter, enter. Just seems daft for how many buttons it has that it doesn't have 'off'. The other one is that EVERY button will switch the PS on and with it being bluetooth not infared, it means that if it works its way behind a cushion etc, the slightest pressure from any angle and you hear 'BEEP' as the PS starts up. Even just someone picking it up to move it etc and it happens. This leads back to the first problem of it having no 'off' button so when this used to happen, I had to turn the TV on just to find 'off' on-screen untill I remembered the button sequence.

Yeah I can see how that would be an annoyance. I recently got the new version of the remote (which doesn't seem to be available in the UK for some reason) and because it has modes for TV, Receiver etc, it means it won't necessarily always turn the PS3 on if it's in one of the non-PS3 modes.

That said, I preferred the bigger Play, Stop etc buttons on the old remote so I may go back to using my old one.
