Pci Slot for GPU?

Hi there, Before i get into my question here are my specs:

PC Specs "atm"

Processor-Intel 3rd Gen Quad i7 3770k 3.5Ghz

Ram-Corsair vengeance dual Chan 1600 2x4Gb

Case- Cooler master haf x Full tower case

Motherboard- Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H

Cpu cooler- Cooler master 212 evo

Hard drives-
1x Western digital 500gb 7200rpm Hdd
1x seagate barracuda 500gb 7200rpm hdd

Power supply- Corsair Professional Series AX750 High Performance 750W Modular '80 Plus Gold' Power Supply

Graphics card-ASUS GeForce GTX 660TI Direct CU II 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Ok so basically what im trying to find out is if i can add another gpu i just built my system but i want to get another gtx 660ti butttttt my motherboard as you can see only has one pci x16 slot. I am concerned i am wondering if i could put the extra 660ti into the x8 slot and one in the 16x slot and if this is possible will it lower performance because of the lower bandwidth slot? (i have never used SLI before)

SLI is supported by the motherboard.

The top 16X slot reduces down to 8X as the other 8X lanes are diverted to the the second slot.

It's perfectly fine and most SLI boards do it this way.

so even tho it will go down to x8 i will get around double the performance still?

Ah i see but do you recommend this ? i run on a 32" tv 1980x1200 will two of the card give me a significant performance boost? even if they are running in x8. For say i start up crisis 2 or bl2 or some game like that will i get better performance from both of the card or will it just utilize one and not use the other one if not needed sort of thing?
