Desinger Handbag for the Mrs

Just cause people do it doesn't make it any less retarded.

Welcome to society.

Hence why people (Who know what they're doing) don't spend 2k on a PC for only checking Facebook and emails.

The only time you should care about what you get back for selling it is something that will appreciate like a rare NES game (Some of these have been going up rapidly lately) or shares in a business, not something that's likely to lose value no matter how small the drop.

I think you're getting a bit ahead of yourself. My original point is that someone could feel the benefit of a more expensive item when someone else wouldn't see the point.

Yeah I know, we should all live in mud huts and cycle to our place of work where we make baskets made out of straw.

Do you own any branded clothing?

Actually, believe it or not, the only branded clothing I have is technical walking/hiking clothing. And even then not the expensive stuff. A couple base layers at £20 each, a couple lightweight fleeces for £20. Not fashion stuff, stuff which keeps me alive up a mountain ;)

But that's beside the point.

The point is that we know, deep down, that designer branded fashion accessories are not a sensible investment in their own right. We buy them because of the status it gives us.

And what kind of society have we engineered that values grossly over-priced fashion items?

A consumerist one? As if this is anything new.

OP has asked for a handbag and it's turned into a debate about why people waste money on certain things. Shall I go into the gfx card forum and moan at someone spending in excess of £300 on a graphics card?

Yes OK, I'd swap my Missus for a handbag.

cannot be arsed reading all the replies - cos they will be mainly male - yous don't understand bags!!!!

a bag is a personal choice - to me - the name on it means nothing - it needs to be functional, and "will go with . . . . "

my daughter bought me the most beautiful red patent leather bag - I love it - but its useless - its just like a fat A4 envelope with handle.

likewise, ~I bought her a lime green suede bag - and she's not wanting to use it - incase it gets wet in the rain , or dirty with setting it down

both designer btw - and sitting safely in cupboards

you'll never get it right! :D

Of course not, I dont understand aliens :p

It's just as bad with shoes.

Fiancée bought some with red soles. Cost as much as these hand bags. They even offered to repaint the soles for £50 when they wear off. What nice people.

My missus has many, Fendi, Prada, Coach, Kate Spade

She has had the Fendi for years and loves it but also really likes the Kate Spade one

Fly to shanghai
Go to fake market
I'll get you the name of the store and name to mention
Let yourself be dragged out back to see the decent stock
Leave with perfect Mulberry copy and go have cocktails in the French concession and be loved forever

/////// profit and win...... Not in the money sense.

Garbage, I've bought my wife two Mulberry bags and a purse and she loves them and still uses them. Most blokes are useless as they don't bother to pay attention to what their other halves likes, but I take pride in the fact I nearly always get it right in terms of bags, jewellery and gifts in general.
