Gas and Electric bills

Since dry lining our house and getting a combi boiler we are £400.00 in credit on our gas and electric utilities.

Just moved from Scottish power to British gas now moving back to a fixed price deal for a year

our gas and electric for a month come to 55 quid, which i think is really good..

we aren't on a fixed rate but if we end up using more gas i'll just end up buying more fiberglass.

I just switched to Scottish Power for a fix at about current rates until May 2014. I liked having years of records to easily compare usage over time, but not enough to pay 10+% extra for it.

I've also had a boatload of insulation added almost everywhere. It's taken about 4 inches off my rooms, but they were big rooms anyway. My lofts are now basically insulation storage facilities :) The only major heat losses now are my windows (single glazing, can't afford anything better) and the flat roof on my second extention (no idea what I could do with that and I couldn't afford it anyway).

Now I need to buy a tumble drier because drying clothes on radiators isn't very practical any more. The insulation has made so much difference that unless I select silly temperatures the radiators aren't on much.

I've been with British gas for both gas and electricity for 7 years & can't be bothered to change due to the research I'd have to do & the fact I'd have to wait a year to see if I'd saved anything.

Really?
I have panels up also, but it does not cover my energy bill.

£1.8k was the annual income, my energy bill was £1.5k (approximations)

You can't really compare one installation with another as there are soo many variables to consider, including position and location. Probably be lower income over this next year because of the crappy weather.

Ah right. I thought the government nerfed that.

To new installations the returns are far lower, I'm on the old FIT tariff.

Yes but how much did it cost to install the panels. Surely thats going to take a few years to recoup

£12k, and sure you would need to account for that over the 25 year guaranteed FIT period. All in all, the £12k investment will potentially return 3 times that over the life of the panels/fit period. I am not sure whether it is financially feasible under the new FIT terms though.....

There's no research involved, go to a compare site put in your current tariff and amounts used and it will tell you how much you can save. It'll tell you how much pence per kw/h your currently paying and how much you could pay.

I've just come off a fixed tariff from edf and using quidco (£55) gone to Scottish Power fixed till March 14.
