I am looking at the Surface Pro or the Sony VAIO Duo 11. However, 3G is a e requirement.

I'm thinking if the Surface doesn't come with 3g built in I'll just use my old Omnia 7(will be old when I get my Lumia 920) as a wifi hotspot with a T-Mobile pay as you go sim with 6 months of data for 20 quid.

I know, which has sort of put me off it a little bit. I could tether to my phone. However, as silly as it sounds I don't want the hassle, I just want to click and go like currently on my iPad.

Ye I know what you mean, I'd love to have it built in, but I can't see it being with the first generation, it wouldn't be a first gen product if it wasn't missing something :P

Surface or Ativ for me....

Same for me, the only difference is that the ATIV Smart PC Pro is out months before the Surface Pro with similar spec or better. If Samsung gives it a keen price (unlikely) then it could well steal the Surface Pro thunder

Some great looking devices on there. The VivoTab and Transformer Book stand out as the most elegant Air come iPad type devices. I'm still unsure on the Surface because I really do not like the kickstand (and think the back and sides look pretty ugly) but I could see them being very useful devices.

The Algiz 10X just looks completely bad ass and the fact that the first thing mentioned after size and weight is operating temperature really is reason enough to buy one.

I think one of the MS Surface tablet + a Nokia Lumia 920 would go hand in hand... :D

So when can I buy? :)

Found a cool site.
There's now 4326 apps, it's held steady at around 86% free apps 14% paid.
Roughly 100 apps being added daily with a peak of one day achieving 350apps.

But the most important piece of info. 94% of apps available on x86/x64 are abilable on ARM.

So small but steady progress, I imagine they're will be a large spike in the month after release.

Surface if you want RT on the 26th of Oct, lumia should be ~5th November.

My god haven't kept up to date on these at all, but they look nice :p. Will have to get one to upgrade my laptop when it eventually dies... (and probably once I'm no longer a poor student....)

Not in the slightest, I just think some people expect stuff for nothing.

These are not cheap £150 android tablets. The prices are however directly comparable with the normal android tablets, like the asus transformer.

Well I don't think I expect stuff for nothing but when you're looking at £800 for something like a tablet it's out of the reach of many. Can pick up an iPad for £400-£500 so there had better be some decent Windows 8 tablets in that range as I don't like Apple :p

You aren't comparing like for like,
Some of the rt ones have been confirmed at $499, so no it's not 800 vs 400 in the slightest.

£800 are for i5-i7 systems, that are about a gazillion times more powerfull than an iPad.

How about comparing like for like?

The £800 tablets aren't meant to take on the iPad... They are ultrabooks without keyboards (or more precisely detachable keyboards). They are comparable to the MBA and the Samsung Series 9.

The Windows RT ones are designed to take on the iPads and Samsung Note 10/Asus Transformers and are around £400, surprisingly similar price and size to the competition..
