Raceroom Racing Experience

Well this is from the Steam page-

Free2Race™

  • The SimBin interpretation of a skill based Free To Play racing game.
I would assume from that that the base game is going to be free, with additional content being charged.

EDIT- from the press release-

RaceRoom Racing Experience is a Free 2 Race concept where a high end racing game is provided for free. The concept offers the opportunity to purchase additional content, thus allowing every user to build the game of their dreams.

Been playing this the last few days, its very good. I've always liked Simbin games in the past. Good balance of realism without being too over the top like Project Cars.

Signed up for the beta.

It has potential but it's hard to say at this stage as the preview has all the assists turned on so you're assessing a sim game based on the Micky mouse mode.

I'll reserve judgement.

didnt think it was good allround graphics were pretty bad just seemed like a 1995 game in 2012

gtr series was awesome and on my desk now .

Not really.

Maybe a game from a few years ago, but not 17 :D

Graphics are ok. Simbin have never been about full graphics though.

I quite like the assists being on in the teaser. Its still difficult, but its at least playable with a pad, unlike any of Simbins other games. Worked straight out of the box with both a pad and a wheel too.

I just hope they don't ruin it by making eveything paid for extras.

Graphics are just ok? I think they are really nice. I like the new addition with the Saleen SR7 and the shortened version of the race track. Think I got 343rd fastest last time I checked which was pretty decent. The car sounds are the best I have heard in a game so far.

You can obviously feel the game has all the assists on but it obviously has potential. Just hope they don't go the simraceway route and charge $$$$ for silly cars and tracks. I mean $20 just for an F1 car is way OTT.

I think it looks more than good enough, more importantly it runs smooth and I didn't detect any 'input lag' issues.

Still, I wish they'd let you turn the ****ing assists off!

Hopefully they will in the closed beta. I don't think there has been a date announced for this yet? Although it must be fairly close if they are taking sign ups now.

If you still have the old teaser it has updated into the open beta on Steam.

I can't get over how awful the GUI is, not user friendly at all. On track the graphics and sounds are very well done imo. I can't get a feel for the physics yet because the settings for my G27 seems messed up giving me very slow steering.

Tracks and cars can be bought for around £3-£5 but I can see it getting expensive if you want a lot of extra content. Not sure I'l be buying into it to be honest with plenty of content for GTR2/Race plus Asseto Corsa on the way.
