Win8 Tablets

$150 for the dock isn't bad considering it's also got an extended battery and extra ports on it.

Edit: the 64gb tablet without dock is $600 btw.

32GB NAND and the dock I don't consider to be worth an extra 250, not in the slightest.

That's the going rate and that's $, the current range of asus transfer docks on android for example are on sale for around £90.

And that's just what you pay for memory, despite what everyone thinks.

Even a smart case on apple, with no batteries, keyboard, ports are £39.99

My personal checklist:
- no bigger than 11.6"
- pen input
- detachable keyboard dock
- reasonable battery life (ok if this comes from the keyboard dock)
- can run TF2 and older Total War games (Medieval II would do) at playable FPS. Eye candy not a concern

If the Atom machines can manage the games then maybe the ATIV Smart PC or Asus VivoTab. If not, I might wait on Surface - Microsoft have clearly given consideration to portability, using a 10.6" screen rather than 11.6", and going with a keyboard cover rather than a dock (the cover will be a lot thinner, so you're likely to keep it with you all the time). I'll probably need the extra few months to save up the extra pennies anyway.

I know it's dollars.
I think other dock prices are extortionate too.

But 32GB NAND, as a consumer (While it's not 100% the same) you can get it as cheap as 30 quid in SSD's and flash drives.

If you can carry 10" you can carry 11.6". I so won't a 11.6" tablet. More space the better. A 10" tablet doesn't fit Ina pocket, so you need a bag anyway and once you've got a bag a few inches makes no difference.

A+ thread
i limited my choices with RT tablets
all i need is the price, my favorite is MS Surface RT then Dell XPS 10 then Asus vivo tab rt then samsung Ativ Tab

I think one of the MS Surface tablet + a Nokia Lumia 920 would go hand in hand... :D

So when can I buy? :)

This is how I feel, but I need to do some serious research into chipsets as it is getting confusing now over which is best, tegra, atom, amd, and work out power/battery life ratio, as that is key for me...

The hook that keeps pulling me to a RT tablet is OneNote

http://microsoft-news.com/onenote-demoed-on-windows-8-video/

Very impressive demo, they really have thought about the interface and touch control, for the first time ever, I actually want a tablet and can't wait to get one..

Posted this in the Surface RT pricing thread as well but heres some new Surface RT ads...

Making of Surface...

I actually like these, mainly the first ad as it shows the advantages. And it's odd seeing MS make good ads. For as long as i can remember they have always failed at advertising (apart from Xbox).

Is the Office free a Surface only thing, or will it be on all RT tablets? That's actually a really decent saving as Office licences aren't cheap.
