Gary McKinnon day of judgement

Good. Assuming that the Americans claims regarding the damage he did are true, which I doubt very much, he took deleted some logs, which somehow took down a system of 300 computers(?) which they say paralyzed munitions deliveries to their entire Atlantic fleet. If thats true, and the cost to repair they have claimed are true, $700,000 is a VERY small price to pay to find out that someone in their bedroom in another country can shutdown your navy.

He did it on dial up as well and the reason he got in was because they never changed any of the default passwords.

There was some retired adviser to past American Presidents on the BBC Radio 4 "PM" program today who suggested that America had one of the fairest legal systems and most humane prison systems in the world.

I'm glad to hear that McKinnon is not to be extradited to that barbaric hell-hole of a country - well done Theresa May!

Can't believe he's been allowed to use a bunch of lies and emotional clap trap to avoid extradition, hope we try him in this country and lock him up for years.

What actually does happen now then? Do the US have rights to appeal it 48,212 times like McKinnon, or is that the end of the extradition chances?

Are we going to try him here or will he be allowed to walk away scot free?

The Yanks have a contingency for situations like this.....it is called rendition...:p

Odd decision as it seems to be based entirely on the fact that he has Asperger's syndrome. Talha Ahsan who was recently extradited to the US also has Asperger's, surely a bit of a contradiction on Teresa May's part?

Ahsan clearly made the mistake of not threatening to kill himself.

and made the 'mistake' of being an Asian Muslim, not that I'm implying that the british government would be in anyway more inclined to deport an Asian Muslim than they are a middle class white Christian

Whole decision is a joke and smacks of popularist pandering to the media :(

Plenty of non muslim UK resisidents have been extradited to the US, the reason was not his aspergers, but the risk to his life through medical evidence, but hey why worry bout the facts. Hopefully he gets charged for his crime though, dont think in anyway he should get away with it, even if it was done in "innocence".

He's middle class and a Christian? Where'd you get those facts from?

Also I think people saying anyone that now threatens to kill themselves will get let off scott free - doesn't this have to be confirmed as genuine by medical professionals?
