Tributes from across the world are being paid to a 15-year-old girl from Canada who killed herself after being bullied online.

A memorial for Amanda Todd was held overnight in British Columbia, five days after she was found dead.

It comes just five weeks after she uploaded a video to YouTube describing years of bullying that she said drove her to drugs and alcohol.

In the nine-minute video she told her story with a set of handwritten notes.

The recording, described as "haunting", showed the cheerleader going into detail about what happened to her.

She said she was persuaded to expose her breasts to a stranger who then sent the photo to her school friends.

Anonymous have now also named the man they believe to be responsible (always an edgy subject). As long as they are right I hope he gets what's coming to him.

Video(s) and more info here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-drove-teen-kill-spreading-nude-pictures.html

The video is very saddening, it makes you wonder why nobody was able to help.

I'm interested in what other peoples replies are, coming from someone such as myself who was bullied physically for years (previously) I have a cold hearted and harsh outlook on the whole thing.

While I'm sympathetic and this case is quite clearly a bad one...well yeah I might divulge more later.

I love the way people always talk about Anonymous as if they are some organised internet policing unit. They are simply just users and trolls of 4chan who band together when something happens that peaks their interests.

Lets not forget that 4chan is full of child porn/rape videos etc.

Never fails to make me chuckle when they go on one of their crusades to revenge the wronged.

Anyway, sad story. R.I.P

Very sad indeed, this girl was so vunerable and people took complete advantage of that, it's just sick.

I agree with what Anon have done on this occasion!

If they have the correct person I totally agree, hopefully if it is the guy his life just falls apart.
Just so he knows what it feels like.

What has this story got to do with Anonymous?

Such a shame. How could the girls parents not notice something was up and give her more support? Again I know its easy to sit on the outside and criticise after these things have happened but they must have noticed a change in their daughter's personality?

Either way its such a shame R.I.P.

It is interesting to see what kind of (bad) influence social networking has had on the whole scenario. I can't help but wonder whether she may have had a chance at moving on from all of this if Facebook wasn't in the equation with people essentially Facebook stalking her even after she moved to different cities?

Maybe if you actually read the article(s)...

I did read it, there is no mention of Anonymous, hence why I was asking.

Unless you're seeing a different article to me...

She said she was persuaded to expose her breasts to a stranger who then sent the photo to her school friends.

'I need someone'
These images were then used to torment her on social media, she adds.

The teenager changed schools repeatedly but this did not stop the bullying and she was physically attacked by classmates.

After a violent encounter with another girl, she wrote that she went home and drank bleach.

"It killed me inside and I thought I actually was going to die."

The last card on the YouTube video reads: "I have nobody. I need someone. My name is Amanda Todd."

In a comment below the video, Amanda wrote that she was not posting the video for attention.

She wanted "to be an inspiration and to show that I can be strong".

"Everyone's future will be bright one day, you just gotta pull through. I'm still here, aren't I?"

Christy Clark, premier in British Columbia, posted a video on YouTube offering her condolences and condemning bullying.

Amanda Todd's family has not yet spoken publicly about what has happened.

 I even did a 'Find' for the word anonymous on the page and it wasn't found either.

EDIT: I only read the BBC article, the DM's input is next to useless.

Very sad video, I'm sure a lot of people (including myself) would have been her friend. Just sad that she obviously didn't feel there was a way out and now she's lost her life.

As for the guy who found her on Facebook a year later then spread the picture of her, as above, I hope his life falls apart.

Bullying is terrible, the worst thing is, kids don't realise they're doing it half the time, and have no idea on the trauma it causes

From what I've read it sounds like the school and social networking sites are partly at fault for doing nothing about it. Telling people to kill themselves, and to do a better job next time after the first failed attempt should not be left unpunished. If the guy that Anon outed is the correct guy, then I have no issue if someone decides to give him bit of a beating.

I know first hand how useless schools are when it comes to dealing with bullying, and by the looks of it everything is still the same. It's sad what happened to the girl but I think the focus needs to be on preventing such abuse from being allowed as there will always be people who make stupid decisions at some point in their life so the least we can do is not make it easy to abuse and humiliate people without consequences.

Such a saddening story... I really wish some one could have helped her :(

The right guy needs to get whats coming to him! (I phrase it that way as they guy named by anonymous might not be the right guy)

Fancy getting all that **** for something you did when you were 12, Shocking & sad story & the Internet at it's worst.

I really am not a fan of social websites - he says posting on an internet forum haha!

Facebook is evil, it is one of my major fears being a Father of young children.

Children are naive and post honest innocent things that are used to ruin their lives.
My heart goes out to Amanda Todd and her family.

Ugh.

It's interesting, I think this is the first generation growing up where everyone is online.

Maybe people will rethink letting their kids just be online unsupervised? Maybe Facebook will start looking harder at this?

The internet can be a pretty feral place at the best of times and teenagers are horrible. When I was on it you'd only be talking to other nerds not really your horrible peer group.

Nothing good can come from Social Networking Sites.

Places like facebook are becoming more & more problimatic, another innocent child has died due to cyber bullying. Being a father myself this new phase of cyber bullying makes me concerned.
