*** The Official FIFA 13 Thread ***

I think I need to step away from UT for a while. I'm going through a period where I can't seem to win for love nor money, even though I'm plainly at least on a par with the person I'm playing. I usually end up with much more possession, more shots, more corners, and still lose. It's so frustrating that I'm afraid I'm going to smash my controller into pieces! I'm on the verge of relegation from Div 1 (I need to win my last 3 games to stay up) which is so annoying after winning the league, and finishing 2 points away from the title in my last 2 seasons.

Decided to jump back into my player career to calm down last night, and forgot how much I enjoy that. Still with Crewe (on loan from Everton), where I've banged in 58 goals in about 40 appearances. Crewe were doing so well - top of the league, into the Johnston's Paint Final, and we were 1-0 up away at Hull in the FA Cup 3rd round. I go down with a torn calf muscle, which puts me out for 8 weeks, and we promptly lose to Hull, lose 5 out of 8 league matches, and slip 10 points off top spot by the time I return with just 8 league games to go. At least I came back in time to play the Johnston's Final (where I inspire the team to a 6-2 victory), my first trophy as a player.

Now up to a 77 rated ST as well, so hopefully when the season is over and I return to Everton, they won't loan me out again, and I can play the next season in the Prem.

That sounds good - whats the improvements in Be A Pro mode this year? Might play that instead...

To be honest I can't pick out many improvements over last year, as in Fifa 12 I only played career in Manager Mode (with my Virtual Pro on the team). In Fifa 13, you don't create a VP, you have to start a player career to make a pro, and he's only available during that career.

It's good fun so far. I was a little annoyed to be loaned out, as even though I started as something like a 68 rated ST, I played in 3 pre-season games for Everton and scored 5 goals, so thought I may be in with a chance of playing some matches. They felt otherwise, and sent me on loan for a season.

There does seem to be a few changes in that as a player, you can request a move if you want. At the start I always envisaged myself staying with Everton my entire career, but now I've spent some time on loan, I think I might see whether I can end up at one of the big European clubs in a few seasons. I'm sure me and Messi would get on like a house on fire :D

That actually sounds a lot better, normally you would be stuck in the reserves for a bit before getting put up. I started at shef. UTD just so I could be on the same level as players, wouldnt mind requesting a move if I'm doing well though :D

Got hit by the awful scripting today and barely scraped a draw, but also hit an embarassing loss. Currently on a 4-1-1 in DIV 1, hopefully going to be able to conquer it finally today.

Realised that it's easy to forget that chopping and changing players can make a team's performance quite unrealistic. Having had the same players, learning about their nuances, what they can do, what I can expect for them, I've been getting noticeably better and better after each game - although the woeful passing choices and frustrating player-switching (yes, please cycle through 3 players, 2 of whom are not even near the ball. Definitely don't switch to the player who is marking the guy about to run into the box for a header. ¬_¬) are oftentimes unavoidable.

I don't understand how anyone can be excited about playing as a created player in the career mode. Yay! I scored a bazillion goals but still got sent out on loan to Accrington!

Because I'm a crap footballer in real life, so I can live out my fantasies in the game instead? I enjoy it, that's all the matters to me :)

Edit: Besides, I got sent on loan after playing in a few friendlies. When Everton have the likes of Jelavic and Mirallas up front, would they realistically pick an 18 year old kid ahead of them (especially when the game looks at stats for ability over actual performances)? I'll see how it goes next season, as (at least) a 77 rated ST, and see whether they send me out on loan again. That would be much more annoying, and highly unrealistic, given I'll probably end up with 70+ goals by the end of the season.

Up the difficulty, and try and do the accomplishments.

Does everyone play as a Striker? I play as CAM/CM and im first choice after 2 seasons. Still bagging around 15-20 goals on World class difficulty.

Scripting :D

I'm not even kidding! My players peeling off attackers at moments just perfect for them to score, or tripping up instead of tackling, my players making the most ridiculously bad passes at points where it was easier for them to make the pass! Or my strikers clumsily hitting every ball where they're normally fairly sharp!:cool:

It's already on World Class, and I've done around 47% of the accomplishments so far :)

A bit like real life then?

I must get scripted every game :(

Schurrle dyer and albiol in my season pack that I forgot I had to open. Seems like a decent haul. Not quite Ribery but still.

Anyone used Dyer much? I was considering him as a sub for Walcott.

Any one fancy a game tonight? It'll be my last chance to play some fifa for over three weeks. My last night of freedom.

Come play a drunk me tonight!!

Whilst I'm away, those which are known to me, if you wish to loan any players until I'm back from the honeymoon, you're welcome too.
