I've been with BE 6 years but I'm thinking of going BT Infinity. I was gonna swap eairlier this year but BE told me fibre optic will be available this year. Anyone else fed up of waiting?

Yep, so I left this week! :) Now connected at 80/20 and not looking back.... Im pretty sure I have ready somewhere they have no plans to get into FTTC until atleast the end of next year.

I know what I would do!

Yup, got fed up of waiting and switched. I would have preferred to stay with Be as BT are incompetent ****wits* and throttle P2P. Be's customer services department couldn't tell me when fibre was coming though. Pity.

(* BT lost my order, told me there was no way they could lose an order, made me wait 30 days until the original order's claim to the line expired and then offered me... 7 days free service as compensation! Took 20+ calls and 1.5 months to sort out.)

I think you've been told a porky to keep you there, I was reading about it the other day as I'm interested for O2 (same parent company an'all).

There seems to be absolutely nothing mentioned on the O2 front and BE have said that it won't be 2012 but they are doing what they can.

How much downtime did you have during the swap?

How much downtime did you have during the swap?

I left Be 3 weeks ago onto the 80/20 service ( B.T) and i had no downtime at all order my Infinity online and phoned Be to tell them when i would be leaving and then B.t Installed Infinity and i sent the Bebox back job done :)

You don't HAVE to move to BT to get fibre. Other providers can supply - and with far better customer service.

You don't have to, but if you actually use it for downloading a not unresonable amount of stuff and want a larger or unlimited usage cap, your options shrink pretty quickly unless you want to pay quite a bit more than what Sky, BT, TalkTalk and Virgin are asking for.

I was with Be for 6 years to. can't say anything bad about them. infact when they do get fibre i will be going back. (if the price is right)

as for BT P2P? im DL right now utorrent @ 8+mbs lol

only been with BT fibre since wed's and had 10 mins down time since he just had to do something outside. (sat in his van most of time)

BT infinity is good, as for customer service - well not so with first line support. But there is channels within BT who are expectational.

I went from BE to Infinity which i been with for 3 weeks or so now, great speeds and latency for me.(line is very stable too except one fault start of switching over which was fixed fast but brilliant since)

If you are in Wales, all ISPs have washed their hands of rollout plans and are instead refering you to the Welsh Government. Typical BT, bunch of complete *****. The exchange might well be on the rollout plans, but you can't have fibre until the Welsh Government say so. And no, they don't know who in Welsh Government to talk to.

It wouldn't be so bad if we were in the darkest depths of Wales, but we are in Cardiff FFS, yet have to suffer with .76mb of bandwidth or run Fibre at a cost of 50k+ Total *****.

As you can tell, I am not very happy about the whole situation.

BE aren't getting fibre anytime soon, just switch to a fibre provider and by the time they do have it you could probably switch back as your contract would be over.

I am with BE at the moment, we should have fibre at my town sometime next year so I will go with Sky then move back to BE once they get their act together, I can't fault their ADSL service been fab for me
