October 23rd Media Event

All looks interesting, iMac looks really nice.
Not sure what they could have done, but I was hoping for more from the Mac mini update. :(

IPad mini does not look to be good value at all though. Certainly doesn't make me want to part with the Nexus7.

Can I just ask what price people were expecting apple to come in at with the ipad mini, there seems a lot of hate for it already in this thread, i was expecting it to be around £249 but as we all know apple can charge that little bit extra.

I think the main thing is the screen it should have matched the competition or bettered it with a retina display that would have been innovation that supposedly Apple are all about. plus the screen aspec ratio combined with the size of the screen is going to be far from great when watching video.

I would have expected this sort of price - it was never going to equal the Nexus on price, not in a million years. Given the fact it's coming out months after the Nexus and from the supposed innovators of the tablet world, I had kinda expected it to not have tech specs from 2010 for that price.

It's laughable that after banging on about how 'Retina' is the future for their phones, tablets, laptops etc. they then go and release a new tablet with a hugely subpar pixel density (163 vs 214ppi of the Nexus) and pretend it's still at the forefront of tablet technology.

Already cancelled my order. Bit trigger happy. Decided that maybe I want the 15" base spec given the price (and extra spec)....

Will people go for the 13" (top model) purely because they want that size?

And this means we cannot be dissapointed err... how exactly?
It's what, another £60 more expensive than people would like.
Solution - Don't fill up your car with Shell Optimax for a month or so :)

I think he referring to the revision of the iPad 3 not the iPad mini.

Ah, yes that makes more sense. :D

Apple's "current is best" machine is definitely getting more aggressive in it's deliveries. I think I'll hug my iPhone 4 and iPad for some time to come yet, chasing current products with Apple is fast becoming (or has become) a mug's game imo.

iPad 3 to iPad 4, what exactly has changed bar a lightning connector and some odd communications ability?
Did the processor or memory or gfx change?
The screen does not seem to have changed.

Not sure if people are missing the point with the fusion drive isn't th breakthrough the fact that i can move frequenly used apps from mechanical to lash storage and vice versa?

Which is different from any other nand/mechanical combo drive that uses the nand for caching frequently accessed data? That is the (same) point of them all..

I don't mind paying £260 but not for that level of spec. I don't need suggestions on how to find an extra £60 because that isn't my issue. You miss the point.

I'd rather spend more on a different product than £260 on a product with that level of spec which is a shame because I wanted a product with the look and feel if the iPad. If it was sufficient value to make up for the poor spec then fair enough, but it's not. And there is more and more choice with every passing week now.

Why do people want smaller tablets? Generally not because larger ones are too big but because smaller ones are cheaper. The less cheap a small tablet is, the more pointless it becomes. With the iPad Mini, you may as well just buy an iPad 2 surely?

iPad mini is bonkers.

A5 (eh? isn't A6 the new one?)
no retina? WHAT ?!

Apart from the size, what is the point?

iPad 4 is not a huge upgrade from 3 so i won't.

The only thing interesting is the iMac.

Perfectly set up really - it'll still sell out and they can upgrade to the spec everyone expected initially and know people will buy that. Same story as the iPhones, 4..4S etc. Release it below the spec everyone wants, people will still buy both :p

The size is ideal for me, spec is good enough for what I'd do.

Could never see Apple doing Retina/new processor for that price range.

Correct - It's all about the look and feel.
Just like dropping £2k on an out-of-date BMW Pro Sat Nav system, which you recommend :p
