I had the Gigabyte Z77-D3H which cost around £80 but some of the ports didn't work where the USB 3.0 hard drives were not detected. I updated the bios to the latest version and installed all the USB drivers but still no luck. I've since returned it for a refund.

I'm looking to overclock my Core i7 2700K to at least 4.8 Ghz. Can anyone please recommend a board that you have where the USB 3.0 ports actually work?

I don't mind spending more than £80 if it will give me a product that actually works.

Hi, I've been through all this in another forum, I'm not looking to fix the problem as I no longer have the motherboard, I'm just looking for suggestions for a new motherboard. Yes I installed all the drivers. Nothing was showing in Device manager with an exclamation mark.

I said in my other thread that I was looking for a motherboard for a specific processor which I felt would limit the responses I got. Since I couldn't rename the thread I started a new thread and said I was looking for a socket 1155 motherboard.

I don't understand, why would I need to remove the name of the competitor "Gigabyte"?
What does bdgrade mean? Does the z68 have better USB 3.0 functionality than the z77 boards?

Youve already posted about this. Id remove the name of the competitor. Theres some nice looking Z68 board in bdgrade for £35

Sorry guys I didn't realize overclockers sold their own stuff when I started my thread. I just did a search for something like "motherboard forum" on Google and I found this place. I didn't realize I wasn't allowed to mention the names of other stores.

However with all the effort you guys have put into telling me what I'm not allowed to do with regards to my innocent mistake, you could have helped me instead.

All I'm looking for is someone who has a socket 1155 motherboard to tell me if their USB 3.0 ports work or not in USB 3.0 speeds? I am urgently looking for a new motherboard and I don't want to buy another one just to find out that the ports don't work.

Do overclockers.co.uk modify the motherboards they sell or are they the same motherboards you can buy elsewhere?

• I've you had read the forum FAQ's that you agreed to when you signed up to join these forums, you would know that competitor promotion is not allowed.

• I have a Z77X-UD5H, Z77X-UP5 TH, Z68XP-UD4 here and all the USB3.0 ports work as they should.

• OcUK do not modify the motherboards, they are like you get from anyone else, the only exceptions would be the tech lab boards that have water cooling fitted to them - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=2180&catid=2191 - or ones that come as part of an overclocked bundle where they come pre-overclocked via the BIOS, but no physical modifications.

Theres no reason your board wouldnt have worked, unless,

• Genuinely faulty somehow.
• Your HDD caddies are faulty.

I think it is just unfortunate that you bought a faulty board. The likelihood of buying another board with a similar problem is pretty remote.
What is your budget, as no doubt someone will spec you a decent board to meet your requirements.

I'm looking to spend £100 or less. I don't mind what brand it is. Someone on another forum said his USB 3.0 ports didn't work on the Gigabyte Z77-D3H either and there seems to be reports from other people saying the same thing.

nope just used the stock ports.

i'd imagine any form of pci/e add in card would be fine
