Such a painful day...

Hopefully it will be a reminder as to why you don't waste money on silly things. You had to move in with your Dad because you don't have enough money to survive your hours being cut, maybe if you didn't spend it on other things you might still have your dog.

I have only just started working, but on a 6 hour contract. I was trying my hardest and when Manda was on 46 hours, we had about £30 a month to ourself. Now her hours have dropped to 30, it's a lot harder, even with cutting back, it was difficult and what not. My dog ALWAYS came before me.

Yes but you now have to move in with your Dad because you didn't make contingency plans with your money for this sort of eventuality - you blew it on PS3 games.

£190 would not of done much to be brutally honest. May of delayed this happening by a month or two at best.

I am kind of glad things like this are happening at the age I am, as I am learning from mistakes and will endeavour to not make them again.

What about the laptop that your missus needed? The case you wanted to buy? What about the other times in your life you have spent money because you just could, instead of thinking "You know what, I need to be a bit more responsible as a pet owner"?

I don't own a dog. I earn enough money right now to support one and I of course would like one, but I am sensible enough to know that I am not in a position where it would be fair to own one.

In my opinion people that aren't responsible enough to get their proprieties straight enough to financially support themselves and an animal shouldn't be allowed pets. I feel sorry for the dog and I think what you said in the OP about death is quite apt - hopefully she is indeed going to a better place now with the new owner.

Ah but life is one big learnin curve. Though for some, its steeper than others :p

While true, it's sad that innocent animals suffer as a result.

Your Posting History is quite errr..shall we say 'interesting' for someone having Money troubles enough to give up their dog...

DVD Boxsets.. German Football Track suit.. Even getting a new puppy..and grats on the new Job.

Sorry to hear about your beautiful dog having to be given away but all I could see in her eyes in these pics is:

And winning the lottery.

I could support her. I never said I couldn't. My dad said if it wasn't for having the Rottwieler my dog could come. Dog food was about £30 a month, easy to afford, it was other things. I guess I should have been better with my cash, but I have to say, this job has come to late. I move into my dads over this weekend.

No you couldn't. You didn't have the money (or maybe it was that you didn't have the sense to spend/save your money correctly) to support the environment that meant you could own her. You have had to move somewhere that you cannot take your dog, meaning you've had to give her up.

Your ability to pass off things as out of your control or not your responsibility is unparalleled. It is your fault that she is now going through the trouble of getting used to a new owner. You should be thinking of how she feels, not how you'll feel the next time you see her and feel like a cuddle.

:Edit: Also, being able to afford £30 dog food per month is NOT being able to afford a dog.

Always sad to see people buy animals when they can't afford to look after them, even worse when it's down to their own squandering.

So what is affording a dog?

I have had a message of the person who had my dog saying I can visit any time...
