Daniel Craig - most like a real world agent would be
Dalton second
Brosnon for Goldeneye only, the other ones are bad
Sean Connery is good but the films are somewhat dull by modern standards
Moore is cheeeeesy
and that other fellow last

casino royale, goldeneye and living daylights being the best films!

i dont like these new gritty, pouty serious Bonds with Craig in them. they just seem to sort of get lost in what could be any other action film.

I am hoping the introduction of Q in this one will bring it back to the Brosnan era just a little bit, then they would be perfect imo

Casino Royal was FANTASTIC. The less said about QoS the better.

I find it amazing how this is splitting opinion :D

Moore for his humour in the role, the man is a legend.
Craig for his sheer brilliance as bond. He plays the role perfectly.

Connery by a mile, but I also think Dalton was very under-rated with License to Kill being one of my favorite bond films.

I like Roger Moore but always get odd looks for saying it. He's suave and smarmy, to me he's a great Bond, but then I haven't ready any of the books.

Well it all depends how camp/serious you want them.

Moore is the campest, Dalton was pretty dark, Connery and Brosnan were both somewhere in the middle (not seen any of the Craig ones). They all add something different to the role.

I like silly action films, so I enjoy the Moore films the most, even though I think Connery is the best at playing the suave secret agent.

Suppose this is as good a place as any to ask.

The bond timeline confuses me.
Are Craigs movies prequels to the older bonds, in the sense that Rene Mattheis is his friend as in the books, and Casino Royale is the first book.
Or have they just adapted the sense that there are new Bonds and Bond is the name for an agent with the 007 number. It's a mess to me.

Connery is the best actor to play the role.

Goldeneye is the best "what a bond film should be" and is Brosnan's only good one that holds out over time.

Dalton got the best scripts but didn't do enough with them.

Moore got lumped with some of the worst but made them his own.

Craig has been landed with bad writing and bad directing.

Lazenby just doesn't count

That seems a pretty accurate summation. Brosnan really got a raw deal in terms of films, with the exception of Goldeneye, which is a masterpiece. And Moore got very silly films, but was very silly with them, and it just about fit together.

I don't think there is any real chronology. Bond is a cipher.
