Explain. I think I'm missing something.
Chrome (and other browsers like Firefox) rely on APIs which are hidden in Windows RT. The APIs exist and are used by IE10, but Microsoft wont allow third parties access to them. I'm not entirely sure what these APIs do but I think it relates to JavaScript performance, and without them any engine would be unbearably slow.
The only way Chrome could exist on Windows RT would be if Microsoft made an exception and allowed Google access to these APIs, or if they used IE10's renderer/engine (like how Chrome on iOS uses Safari's renderer/engine).
This limitation is only in Windows RT, Microsoft do allow third parties access to these APIs on Windows 8. A Modern UI version of Chrome is included in the download from Google's website.
How about the official Google Search app, which browser is it using to display the web pages after a search, surely not IE10 yet it seems to be a metro browser rather then chrome...

That API restriction seems like a real bummer actually, with it not being possible for google or firefox to make an RT browser I think it puts a real downer on the entire Windows 8 ecosystem, what other anti-competition limitations are there?
It basically makes it IOS...

The launch in the UK has been a shambles. If you go to the websites of our major high street PC retailer they have NO windows 8 tablets for sale, if you click on the "tablet" section of their windows 8 promo section it says "sorry no products available"
I was ready to buy a Windows 8 hybrid tablet today but alas there isn't one even out in this country yet

I expected everywhere to have them on display, was really looking forward to having a gander, meh.
Rubbish article. No many during the day as everyone who wanted it was queuing and got it first thing, then we have tablets. That aren't in the shops yet, so people will be waiting for that, then we have the direct downloads and off course epic you where just buying a normal desktop, with the £15 upgrade few would have been waiting anyway.
No big surprise, it hasn't even been advertised particular well, I doubt anyone who isn't interest hasn't the foggiest what it is let alone its out.
Same here. They have laptops and desktops etc out on display but not a single tablet

Which isn't exactly the makings of a stellar launch.
I know that, which is why I was saying it has been a poor launch day. They would have done a lot more business if surface was available in shops around the globe, and 3rd party tablets were out on launch day too, as thats what Windows 8 seems to be focusing on (touch screen tablet UI etc)
I was expecting tablets from all the major OEM's to release on the same day that Windows 8 was launched, as they've had plenty of time to get things ready for today.
Edit: Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to bash windows/microsoft, I'm just dissapointed and frustrated that's all. It could have been a much, much better launch day

The launch is pretty underwhelming all the hype about loads of new devices being released today, to then find out that most of them aren't out yet, the flagship (Surface) is delayed, lots don't even have proper spec sheets, and the ones that are available are ordered on request (Acer). Microsoft and the OEMs seemingly concentrated so much on the US launch that they forgot about everywhere else.
Although this doesn't mean anything for the medium/long term success of the OS, but still sucks.

It's always said 26th shipping date for the 30th delivery.

I didn't pre-order either, but I pay attention 
The pre-order confirmation actually contradicts it stating the 26th delivery, but it's always said the 30th on site and 26th shipping on the site.
