Foreign Films - Recommendations?

Loads of good ones, not sure if anyone mentioned Female Agents? I'm not sure of the French name but it's a great WW2 thriller.

Similar is Black Book/Zwartboek which is directed by Paul Verhoeven who did loads of classic actions like Total Recall, Robocop...

Definitely Mesrine (part 1 & 2).

Two films for the price of one.

Yep.

Run Lola Run is a really interesting film

Raid: Redemption is absolutely the new benchmark for action films. Well worth a bluray purchase.

My friend has been nagging non-stop for a good month now for me to watch The Man From Nowhere. I should probably just get on with it :D

Lilya 4-ever

Amazing film which I also highly recommend!

My recommendation is the following foreign masterpiece :)

Turtles Can Fly (2004)

My South Korean recommendation is A 'BitterSweet Life (2005)', if you liked Chan-wook Park's 'Vengeance Trilogy' (Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy & Lady Vengeance) then you'll love this film.
Extremely stylish and powerful with a simply stunning ending! Must watch imho.

My French recommendation is 'Irreversible (2002)', I almost turned this off as the beginning contains some annoying/hard to watch camera work but bare with it and you'll be rewarded with a great powerful film.

My Austrian recommendation is Michael Haneke's 'Funny Games (1997)', make sure you watch this original and not the Hollywood remake, far better imho.

My Japanese recommendation is 'Azumi (2003)' , ignore the low (6.9) imdb score, this is a fantastic brutal action film which is in the same league as 'Battle Royale (2000)' imho. Don't bother with the second one though, that sucked.

My French Canadian recommendation is 'C.R.A.Z.Y. (2005)' stunning film that should be on every-ones to watch list.

My Spanish recommendation is Pan's Labyrinth (2006) director Guillermo del Toro's 'The Devil's Backbone (2001)'

Another South Korean film I highly recommend is 'Brotherhood (2004)', a masterpiece war film better than saving private ryan imho!!

Check out earlier John Woo films before Hollywood got their hands on him.

Your mind will literally be blown by the action sequences. Hard Boiled is nearly three hours of mayhem. Totally stylised but somewhat majestic.

Bullet Tn The Head is a tough and harrowing but excellent watch.

Life is a Miracle is a very enjoyable, if slightly anarchric story set in the Bosnia/Serbia conflict in the former Yugoslavia

Watched another stunning foreign film last night, Denis Villeneuve's masterpiece Pogorzelisko (aka. Incendies (2010))
An amazing film that I highly recommend to all film fans.

Watched this for the first time last night too, harrowing, but I agree that it's an amazing film. One of those that stays with you after seeing it, the film has been in and out of my thoughts all day today.
