what are peoples opinions on the mobo, a friend recommended it over the RoG and higher level boards

I find that paste performs a little better (its also the same price) and spreads very nicely.

thanks, how do i list like that? i never worked it out...

also do i need a modular cable kit? wont that come with the psu...

also why the gigabyte board? ive only ever used Asus, and why corsair PSU after everything already said in this thread...

The PSU does come with all the cables needed, the extra ones I included (edited the above spec to make them Blue) are finished off nicely with individual braiding.

ah fair enough, not sure if theyre worth £60 though!

Reasoning behind the board and psu?

I got the plugin to work, thanks for that, will save a lot of time!

The board matched the colour scheme, was a bit cheaper, has a new type of power stage for the CPU and has Thundebolt as a further option.

The PSU was just to be able to add those fancy cables.

ha ok i might leave it since the asus still matches and im used to using them, the psu i might leave as i dont want to pay extra for cables!

so you suggest swapping the cpu budget with mobo budget then?

Ive heard 2011 isnt as good as same price IB processors from a friend?

especially since i was going for the 4 core

Well there isnt an equivalent IB CPU to the 3930K, but the Anandtech bench - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/551?vs=523 - does seem to show the 3770k beating the 3820

but if i get the cheaper 2011 socket processor i can just throw in the IB version when thats out? which would be faster than anything, if i go for an IB build now itll need a new mobo etc to upgrade as IB is last processor for that socket?

But also as you can see, you can have a 3930K for not much more and you arent really sacrificing on the board quality, I've been having a play and seem to have got 4.7GHz sorted.

I thought we established yesterday that 3930K + mediocre mobo is better than 3770K and a 320quid mobo...

Swap out PSU for XFX or corsair to save extra 90 pounds...

That Cinebench I showed you is much better than I manged with a [email protected] which got 7.78

And I think the motherboard I selected looks nice, has the IR3550 powerstages as its part of the UP range and has eight dimm slots for more RAM later.
