What could cause this?

I think its still the card being faulty, and no driver fixes this problem

After about 5 mins the screen will go normal, but during that time as you can see i opened up firefox and it goes black then blinks.

All connectors fine and PSU 7502 fine ect.

Its really annoying me, the card is at 27c too so its not heat as it only does this on boot up.

Lol guys it doesnt matter if i opened anything it would go blank and flash its not firefoxes fault ;)

I just used that as an example.

I have tried a new connection same thing happens, plus the connection works fine on a 285 and 260 so i know its fine. I dont have a HDMI screen so cant try HDMI but like i said the DVI works fine.

After the 3-5 mins though the card seems fine, but i cant be waiting 3-5 mins each boot up to use my PC, like i said all drivers from 12.11 to 12.8 have the same problem.

Yes this is the 2nd card since last friday, i got this card last night.

Sometimes the problem doesnt occur though, ive just rebooted there and no problems apart from a black screen then the desktop appeared?

What's your refresh rate set at? Looks like its trying to refresh faster than your monitor can handle, similar symptoms anyway. Check your display settings in the CCC, and good luck :)

What brand of card is it?

IIRC it's a Gigabyte WF 7850

OP, I personally would just pay for return postage and return it under OcUK's 14 day satisfaction guarantee and just buy another one :)

Got a spare HD you can put a new windows installation on? All that swapping around with nvidia cards isnt doing your registry any good. Try with a fresh windows installation, its very unlikely you have two faulty cards.

Perhaps try the card in someone else's PC?

Monitor is fine tested with my bros 580 so it cant be that, i agree with the heating up thing though, its like its just getting out of bed and cba lol then works when its warmed up, but thats not good at all.

I maybe send back and get a new one like Cleeecooo says, but then ill have to pay £20 extra and ive already paid £10 so thats £30 extra lol? Nearly 7870 prices.

Dont have a spare HD, but ive been through the registry and theres no Nvidia traces anywhere.

Ill play with it this weekend and send it back monday if its still playing up, im really annoyed why its not just plug and play, first AMD card since they bought out ATI and nothing but problems!!

Btw its 60hz refresh rate 1920x1200 so it should be able to handle it, my gtx 285 never had any problems.

RMA time if it is still playing up...If you carry on like this, you could have bought a 670 with the RMA monies :)

I know what you mean lol. Its weird how Nvidia i have had no problems with but this AMD card has been a nightmare?

Nvidia software is 100% times better but the price performace of the AMD is amazing if you can get it to work.

Im just an unlucky person

Some will say it is PEBKAC but I am not so sure most of the time.

Well it cant be me because all ive done is put the new card in and installed drivers. Its not like thats hard to do, ive installed loads of cards before not just for me but for friends and family.

Most were Nvidia, infact all were lol, last AMD/ATI card i had was an x800 i think.

And the fact when in put the 285 back in there was no problems shows its all seated properly and the 285 is a way larger card and has more power adapters.

So i doubt its PEBKAC lol^^ Its making me hate AMD though!

Don't you mean £10?

RM special only costs £10 if you package it properly :)

Also, haven't you claimed the money back from OcUK for the first RMA?

Well its £10 for delivery, £10 first RMA no refund giving, and £10 second. So thats £30

Only reason its not £40 is because they were slow first time they give my postage back. I suppose ill still get to keep the games? So i maybe do that then it will be worth it.

I will go MSI 7850, im determined to make the 7850 work i know its a good card.

I agree reinstalling windows is good but i just cant atm, the none volotile way is rubbish. If the GTX 285 works with no problems then do you think its Nvidia sabotaging my PC? Because i dont think they do that lol, if was driver corruption then the 285 surely would have the same problems?

I maybe pay the extra for a 660 i wonder what its like vrs the 7850, then again id lose out on the games doing that so its lose cash and work or risk it and win?

Lifes never simple is it lol
