AMD Crossfire + eyefinity + X79 issues?

So since the new AMD drivers and everyone saying they're performing better and the drivers have less bugs in them recently I've been a bit tempted to switch over and run 7950 or 7970 crossfire/trifire.
Rusty's recent thread about switching from 680s to 7950s only made me want to more. Plus I've heard that with AMD it's easier to switch between single screen and triple screen gaming when using 3 monitors.

The downside for me is needing the Active mDP adaptors. But you save money on the graphics cards...

After my usual flying visit to the ROG forums to see what new problems people have found I saw a post that mentioned issues when using crossfire with eyefinity on the R IV E...
Turns out (from someone that I believe is beta tester for AMD) that AMD are aware of the issue and it could well be driver related!
It also now turns out that it may be more generic than the Rampage 4 boards (the X79 ROG boards) and may be an issue with all X58/X79 boards.
If true I see this as a good thing (as I wasn't going to change my motherboard over it just to get AMD cards) because the bigger the problem is the more incentive there is to fix it. Also if it's more generic I imagine it should be easier to find/diagnose.

So, I'll get on to the purpose of this thread (for those still reading!)...

There must be people here with X58/X79 boards. Some of you must have AMD 7900 series cards. Some of you must be running crossfire and then some of them must be running eyefinity.
Now I realise this could be quite a small subsection of the forum, but are any of you guys experiencing crashes and lock-ups? Is it a recent thing with some of the more recent drivers or has it been around a while?

Thanks.

I wouldn't over three screens. 7950's are faster than 680's never mind 670's (issues permitting of course! :))

I'm assuming you mean you wouldn't get 3 670s for 3 monitors?
It'd be annoying to switch to AMD and still not be able to get 3 monitors working as I want!
Also with AMD I need to get the Active Display adaptors which adds to the cost. Also 7970s are more expensive to start with. I'd probably be happy with 7950s but can only find the IceQ ones with a blower cooler design.

Also, do we know 7950s are faster in all games? I think the only game on your list I'm likely to play is Skyrim and maybe, maybe, BF3 if I feel nostalgic :)

At the minute I'm playing a lot of Guild Wars 2 (but not really enjoying it much, I do wonder why I keep playing it). I may go back to SWTOR.
I'll probably give Black Ops 2 a go. Possibly the new XCOM game.
Probably play through the Mass Effect trilogy at some point. Dragon Age, Alpha Protocol, the Batman games and hopefully Rome 2: Total War, although by that stage I'll likely have upgraded again.

Not criticizing the selection of games you benched, you couldn't test everything. But I'd be annoyed to switch to AMD only to find out that 80% of the games I'll be playing would run better on Nvidia.

Also, because I'm pessimistic, I can imagine as soon as I switch Nvidia do a massive driver update...

It's also interesting that Cleeecooo isn't getting the issues as I thought it was every Crossfire+Eyefinity+R IV E setup that would get it. I was 'hoping' this thread might show it to be a more widespread issue. But now seems like it may not be an issue (although knowing my luck it would be).
Also seems to only be on some games, wonder if that explains it?
