The Apple Haters’ 7 Stages of Grief

I last went Apple 11 years ago and was not impressed... Now relatives have the more modern stuff and I still fail to see the fuss.

As for the software. Well, I had to use iTunes yesterday. :eek: It's even worse now than it was several years ago. What a piece of clunky ass trash. How all those hipsters navigate it, I'll never guess.

It's all down to preference but I find iPhones vastly superior to the rest on the market. I have been given some android phone or another as my work smartphone and it's complete dross. I spent over an hour with the business support guy as he tried to get it to sync and operate with my work email, absolute hassle. Was sitting chatting to him after about the football and one of the directors came along with his company iPhone (****** more important than me :p) and it took 5mins to set up. I still have constant hassle withine to this day.

I get annoyed with the apple this, apple that we all circle jerk over apple lark but putting all that aside its the best product do I'll buy it.

Yes I read the post.

He is calling everyone who has an iPhone a douche who thinks they are better than everyone else. Such a bitter and out of touch post deserves some fun poked at it.

Or are we all serious in here because we are now bashing apple?
 
Must say that while I much prefer Mac OS X to Windows (hence the sig) and think that Apple are doing as well as ever with the Mac, it would be silly to deny that Apple has lost its edge with iOS. I've tried to justify my iPhone (by essentially lying to myself admittedly), but I've got to the point where I cannot honestly say that the iPhone is worth it anymore. I still think that iOS has the slight edge in usability (hence why Apple products are so popular with the average Joe) and do enjoy that everything is so well thought out, but the Nexus 4 will be the first Android device (IMO) that really is on par with the iPhone as a complete package with fantastic performance with well considered implementations of features, and not just an orgy of numbers and gimmicks.

So the iPhone 5 will be going for a refund, and a Nexus 4 will be ordered, making it the fourth phone that I've had in the last four months...aside from the warranty replacements (which would make it around 12, I think).

You had 8 phones in 4 months that were warranty replacements? What phones were they so I can avoid the shoddy build quality?

No he didn't.... He is calling ALMOST everyone HE KNOWS with an iPhone a douche... Totally different from calling everyone with an iPhone this.

And you think its purely because he cannot afford an iPhone?

You do realise it's a telephone, right, not a 5 bedroom detatched house or a yacht? It's unlikely many people on a tech site can't afford an iPhone, if not outright then on some sort of monthly contract. I doubt the majority of 'haters' do so because they are 'jealous'.

Yep. Two brand new 4Ss with significant damage (worse than the iPhone 5 scuffs), three S3s with debris under the display or severe colour uniformity issues (top quarter strong yellow, middle quarter strong pink, bottom quarter yellow again). Six iPhone 5s with scratches literally all around the device.

In other words, all the top end, most hyped smartphones on the market at the time :P

Note that I wouldn't say that the build quality of these devices is shoddy, more that they have all had manufacturing issues. The 5 is easily the most solid feeling phone that I have ever used (and in terms of feel is probably the most solid device on the market today). The S3 may only be plastic, but again, pretty solid build, more so than you'd expect. That said, the only phone that I'd go for now is the N4, the S3 is great if you like that sort of thing but if you want to root and put stock Android on it, avoid the Exynos phones, basically.

Also worth saying that I wouldn't say that iOS is inferior to Android. Just that you should expect far more for the price, and Apple have not delivered there. The upgrade cycle is designed to squeeze money out of you (which would be okay if they were massively far ahead), but Google offer a support cycle that continues until the device is not good enough to use the latest and greatest - look at the Nexus S. Positively ancient in the smartphone world, but it still gets 4.2.

Fox use your position as a MoH to get someone to create an ironic smiley. I understand it's only text on a screen but do you really think I would mock someone on such a base level? It's pathetic and degrading to talk down to people like that. I just thought people would have the sense to realise I am ironically needling someone because they are coming out with stupid statements.

Kind of took away the moment though breaking it all down like this :p:D:p
 
I'm the same. There's some people I know with iPhones who think they are self superior over everyone else.

Jokes on them with their inferior product.

Funny, I've done those in almost reverse order.

I don't understand the Apple thing.. I bought an ipod touch and its the worst piece of tech I've bought. iTunes never worked properly, the sync never worked properly, the device itself was unstable.. complete "meh" from me.

I think they are very good at marketing and quite clearly, its worked. I've had people tell me how great their apple devices are because it can do X or Y and thought "umm, yeah.. thats not new and there are alternatives that are cheaper and/or work better". Then it'll move on to another feature and the reply is the same.. and on you get the idea..

Maybe its just my point of view though - I tend to be quite practical by nature so am more impressed by features/functionality than "ooo shiny".

Far as the elitism goes - yeah I have seen that too. Thing I can't work out is, every tom, dick and harry has (or wants) Apple stuff, so I don't understand why these people think it makes them better ?

Everyone I know who's got one is because 'they just work' and they do.
However, my eldest daughter was messing with my S3 and is seriously impressed above her iPhone 4 but thought my SGS1 was crap and her Mum's Orange SF was awful.
