7850 vs 660

If you like Games that run PhysX (Borderlands 2/Batman Arkham city-asylum/Metro2033/Mirrors edge/Star-Trek DAC/Arma 3) then the 660 is the way to go but if you are happy to play these games without the pretty effects, a 7850 is the way to go :)

The games I will play would be DayZ (when standalone arrives), Arma 2+3, Borderlands 2, Chivalry, TF2, Planetside 2, CS:GO, Dishonored, Torchlight 2, Awesomenauts, Crysis, Left 4 Dead, Just Cause 2, Bulletstorm, RAGE and Guild Wars 2.
Would it be worth the 660 for these games?

With 2 of those games you mention using PhysX, I would be very tempted by a 660. If you could stretch your budget to a 660TI, even better :)

Stupid question, but with a amd card am I able to use physx like on borderlands 2, so turn it on high or is it nvidia cards only?

I guess I will go for the amd 7850, especially since these drivers look fast, I just hope nvidia wont come out with even faster drivers or something else.

After reviewing this set of benchmarks kindly linked to by IC3 I am going to say that the Nvidia 660 seems to be the better bet all round.
They test 18 games at
1280*800
1680*1050
1900*1200
2560*1600
and some at 5760*1080

Out of the 88 different game benchmarks (not including 3dmark11 and heaven) the AMD 7850 only wins 9 of them, these are.

Max Payne 3 1280*800 no AA
Max Payne 3 5760*1080 4*AA

Sleeping Dogs 2560*1600 4*AA
Sleeping Dogs 5760*1080 4*AA

Sniper Elite V2 1280*800 no AA
Sniper Elite V2 1680*1050 AA High
Sniper Elite V2 1920*1200 AA High
Sniper Elite V2 2560*1080 AA High
Sniper Elite V2 5760*1080 AA High

This added to the fact you said you would quite like Physx i see no reason to get the AMD7850 at all.

Keep in mind this will be stock speeds!!!

The full reason people buy 7850s is to OC to 1200/1450.

It does 1050/1350 with no more voltage and is steady as a rock.

I bet then it beats the 660?

What are the 660s like for OCing?

1200/1450 is easy to do. You can just use the power slider in the control panel to get it stable at that speed. It gets close to the 7950 at that clock from what i have seen from benchmarks. As i said at that easy to achieve clock and with 12.11 the 660 has no chance.

At stock speeds the 660 will be a bit faster. When both are over clocked however, the 7850 is a good bit faster. Its up to the OP, but if he is going to over clock the choice is clear. If he's going to run stock, get the 660 and enjoy the physx but worse performance :)

Agreed. Over 350 mhz oc can be achieved on this card making it 7950/>660ti performance. If OP wants the faster stock card then 660 is faster.

Something to note is the 7800s get a boost but dont scale quite as well with the 12.11s as the 7900s.

You seem to have contradicted yourself here, if the 660 is faster at stock and he is not going to overclock, how would chooseing the 660 give worse performance?
