Just to clarify, the full designation for that is the 29EA93. It has now been released on the Asian market and should be coming here later this year. It has been known about since August though - http://www.lgblog.co.uk/2012/08/lg-...-professionals-and-entertainment-enthusiasts/ as it was shown off at IFA 2012.

Haha... Well I know how it goes. It's easy for lots of 'similar' monitors to blend into one. Nightglow - you probably thought thread was about the aspect ratio more generally and the Dell Ultrawide model. I must admit I thought it was without checking the first post

Been any mention of pricing on these as of yet?

I really hope they aren't massively overpriced, especially given how low 1440 prices are coming.

Edit: Should read more, estimate the the LG to come in under £400...

The Dell equivalent based on the same panel is now on sale but sadly its come in very overpriced due to a lack of competition, ~£600

Sadly the LG retails for ~ the same as the dell in country's where they are both on sale so it will most likely follow that form here

Pricing on the LG for Europe has been announced at €599, so it may be slightly cheaper, just no where near the £400 I had hoped for. Time to give the dgm 1440 another look me thinks!!

Prices appear to be $100 cheaper than the Dell/LG screens so maybe it doesn't use the same panel or maybe they are just setting their profit margin lower to attract customers, it also has built in speakers.

For the Dell you can get a higher resolution monitor from them anyway at the price of their 2560x1080.

Shame really.

Quiet agreed, missed opportunity I say, would have liked to more monitors 2560x1440.

Wouldn't surprise me if Samsung has a 21:9 monitor waiting to be release.

Intriguing and yet frustrating monitor, this:

1920x1080 27-inch: 81.59 PPI and 0.3113mm dot/pixel pitch
***2560x1080 29-inch: 95.81 PPI and 0.2651mm dot/pixel pitch***
2560x1600 30-inch: 101.7 PPI and 0.2497mm dot/pixel pitch
2560x1440 27-inch: 108.8 PPI and 0.2335mm dot/pixel pitch

In terms of PPI and dot pitch, this screen will be better than a 1080p 27-inch screen (which isn't hard) but not quite as impressive as a 30-inch 1600p or 27-inch 1440p monitor.

I agree with the guy who said that this aspect ratio would be nicer on a 32-inch monitor at like 3840 x 1620 (although that particular resolution might be pushing the bounds of what the DVI standard can handle - may need DP for that one)
