He said he didn't see why they couldn't do that as they were worried it would lock to a network they cant sell. He's going to speak to the manager and get back to me. I told him if it works he's got two sales but there's no way i'm buying it and returning it if it doesn't work because apparently they don't accept returns FULL STOP.

Stick the cash on the counter, they can have the cash once it is proven to work. If it's already locked then you take the cash back. Simples.

I'm here now. The black isn't taking my giffgaff sum. Its locked to ee/tmobile/orange.

They're calling head office to clarify

Have to wonder if it was like this as default or if as was mentioned by the Phones 4U advisor that the phone became sim locked when they inserted one of the network providers sims.

I'm guessing it came like that out of the factory but you never know if it already had one of those inserted in it before yours? :)

Phones4U just called and gave me a cracking deal!

Staying with Orange, £36, 600mins, unlimited text and 1GB Data (which is my usual price BUT they gave me a £7.50 off for the contract length, so £28.50 monthly inc VAT.) and they will also give me £20 cash back in the next 42 days when handset is connected.

£28.50x24months = £684

- £20 cash back makes it £664 total

Just awaiting delivery, which unfortunately they cannot guarantee tomorrow, they can only say '5 working days' :/ Still, with a deal like that, I can't complaint!!!

Confirmed they're locked to ee/tmob/orange. Theyre getting a call from head office tonight to see what they're going to do going forward as they have mid advertised and they're systems show they should be unlocked.

So yeah, for the time being don't get one from phones4u if you're not on the above

100% not sim free! Just tried O2 and Vodafone with no luck. Waiting for my EE sim to activate.

Phone is awesome btw :D

Guy confirmed with head office and compliance that this IS SIM FREE.

He said we can go down and test it and compliance have confirmed that if it does not work he can go ahead and refund. Me and my boss are heading down now :)

I would try and get the unlock code off them rather than refund.

After all they've confirmed and wasted your time.

How did you know that? my order number in in the 50,000s, did you get a separate email about the free speaker?

£661 here on 12 month £51 a month deal.

Mine was through EE, was your Phones4u?

Thats an amazing deal, how did you get that?? Any prompt?

Phones4U when they were doing the 12 month contracts, before EE jacked up the price.

£49 for the phone plus 12 x £51 = £661. Unlimited calls and texts, 1GB data. Given I used about 300MB a month and WP8 has some sort of data reduction system I think 1GB will be enough. That's a 4G contract too.

The same deal now has the handset at £199 which works out at £880.

I tried asking for the 12 months but they don't have any they can offer, so I am tied down for 2 years but this is coming from a supposedly glitch on my last contract which I took in Feb 2012, 2 years contract but according to Orange, Phones 4 U and even Carphone Warehouse, I am 'out of my 2 year contract' when I got my Lumia 800.

At least I pay lesser monthly, so looking foward to it now.

Also as a prompt, don't settle for the deal they first offer, they will drop some cash back if you umm and ahh a little.

So I picked up a white Lumia 920 this morning, guy thought it was unlocked but it's locked to EE' I've tested with a EE sim, Vodafone just asks for an unlock code,£459.00 form Phones4U.

Now the problem is how do I unlock, I've requested an unlock code, I guess if I got no luck then I'll return it within the 14 days, another chap went over earlier and they wouldn't sell him a phone off network so I guess I got lucky :)

I'm stuck on wifi until I figure out a hardware unlock.

How did you get on with the unlock request? Who did you request it from? I take it you're on Voda? If so who did you call and did they not give you any of the bull that I got about having to have the phone registered to their network for at least 30 days before requesting the unlock?

Ah I see, just the same price before jacked up price. Thanks:)

Why are Phone4U getting the handset before EE, wtf!?
