Had the phone a few hours now and getting used to the OS.

Anyone know if you can turn the little vibrate feedback thing off that happens when you use the buttons on the bottom of the screen?

EE are taking ages to activate my sim :(

No one cares about your vibrating keys, hurry up and post some low light shots since it's dark! :p

But there's bound to be something under settings, I completely forget where though even though I used WP7 for 9 months all memories of that phone has been wiped from my mind sine I stopped using it last week.

Ill go outside and take some in after I eat.

Under my sim card tray it says: TYPE: RM-821 FCC ID: PYARM-821

In the settings>about it says Carrier:EE even without the sim in.

More info shows:

OS version: 8.0.9903.10
Firmware revision number: 1232.2110.1244.3011
Hardware revision number: 1.0.0.0
Radio software version: 1.0.202041.3
Chip SOC version: 8960

After 15 mins of arguing with the manager I finally managed to snag a black 920
Do I need to register it to an orange or tmobile network before I go on a hunt for an unlock code? Most sites ask what network it is locked to so Im guessing I need to stick an orange or tmobile PAYG sim in first?

I've just had an online chat with P4U and was told quite clearly that the sim free Lumia 920 is not network locked and I would be able to use my '3' sim card in it.

I tempted to order one, using my American Express credit card (they will step in in the event of a retailer not refunding) and see what happens.

This means is running the EE firmware. ;)

EE phones should have the following product numbers on the phone:

059R1W4 - Black
059R1W7 - Red
059R1W5 - White
059R1W6 - Yellow

Is that product code shown anywhere?

Its also clearly running a different simlock file to the UK CV model.

If you are feeling brave, I can talk to through how to put the UK CV software on the phone. :D

You need the carrier it is locked to and the IMEI number which is on the box.

Nope, Don't see those product numbers anywhere, on the phone, in the settings or on the box.

the testing bit is what worries me :p
I have seen the guy on XDA is having issues trying to flash his phone...
Are there any guides for the process?

edit

I can confirm I am seeing exactly the same info as ^JP^ and the screen is gorgeous.
Haven't put a SIM in yet, going to read up on the unlocking bit first and see if anyone can do it any quicker than 3-10 business days

It's normally done with Nokia Care Suite or 3rd party tools. But these tools change to suit new devices and getting hold of these tools takes time, they're mainly for repair personnel or shops.

I wish you luck but I think the p4u advisor was what is commonly known as stupid!

I have Nokia Care Suite (which I have uploaded to my dropbox), I just need someone to test it for me. :D

Interesting. Does it have "UK CV" on the box then or any "EE" markings? :(

On the box sticker with all the IMEI and FCC details etc it says "PHONES 4U GB"

from xda

Haven't figured out how i'm going to use it or get my lumia 920 unlocked yet but i'm seeing errors on 1232.2110.1244.3011 using EE firmware for white phone, DC_template_development_v4.bin causes a big .net exception
prd_signed.ffu dies at about 14% everytime you download with a webclient error, could be just nokia resetting the connection

looks like he has the same firmware as well....
