I not long upgraded to windows 8 first problem I found after getting the media center ed. was that I didn't have blu ray support so I thought ok I have my power dvd disk ill install that after installing it I found that it wouldnt work no more forcing me to upgrade.

ive tried free software and ive tried trying out software but most seem to crash can anyone recommend cheap software instead of me forking out on a standalone player, as my samsung blu ray drive is just a brick to me.

PowerDVD is a rip-off. I contemplated upgrading a while ago but bought a standalone BR player with more features and better IQ with some change left over.

im after cheap software I dont see how £60-70 for a non physical item is good, when I can buy a physicial item as in standalone blu ray to have for less of that, I only want software as I have hardware thats only good for playing dvds

How about the new Nero 12 Platinum? It includes a Blu Ray player and is Windows 8 compatible. If you have a previous version of Nero, the upgrade cost is £39.99 and you get get 10% cashback from a well known site!

You could try the 15 day trial to check it works first.
