needing a modular psu rated around 500watts. Max budget is £75 but ideally wanna go cheaper.

this will slot into current system (5 yr old) but will then be usedd in my upgraded new intel chipset/cpu/graphics card next year.

Want something quiet n efficient. Seasonic any good? Corsair?

I have the 400w model for a HTPC which is near silent, I'd expect the same from the 600w model which is a little over what you're after but not overkill either really, however it's not "fully" modular. If you want fully modular there are a few options like this one: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-058-OC&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat= I have the 850w variant of that in my main rig which again is near silent and fully modular :)

The seasonic G series looks appealing. Is their an equivalent Corsair unit that I could get. I'm thinking of the european or uk RMA centres

Looking for something that would be able to be replaced should it go pop few years down the line.

Don't touch the XFX, their warranty is almost non-existent. Seasonic warranty dealt with through OcUK for the full period so go with that (It's the best out of the bunch anyway)

I was looking at the XFX also but this is an issue. It says 5 yr warranty on the site though.

It's not the period it's the support, slow to respond and overall a big hassle. Not worth it in my opinion.

Plus factor in the common fan issue with those units I'd not go near one. Get that Seasonic, fantastic unit. If only it had been that cheap when I'd purchased my PSU ;)

I emailed overclockers support and they say they only deal with the first 12 months after which has to be sent to Seasonic.

Where did you hear that overclockers deal with the full term?

On the product page and on the forums.
