2006 VW Toureg 3.0 V6

Surely this is the kind of car where if you are worried about how much it's real-world MPG differs from book values, then it's not the car for you?

Some of the bills it could throw up will be eye watering.

Because it's a 6 year old German car? Hobbies including going wrong, yet again.

I appreciate that this thread will now go the way they normally do when you ask about bills, which will be your beleif that because you had an X5 that didn't break, then thats the norm :p
 
and even if it doesnt break, its a bottom of the range toureg. no one wants to drive about in the smallest engined car in the range
 
Yer there was only 4 engines really. One nutter v10 diesel, 1 pointless petrol, the 2.5 and this 3.0 v6 diesel. So it's in fact the pick of the range...

It’s just to find out if my car is using more fuel than most, as it was showing 30/40Mpg on Avg until it was serviced but as the GF had it the last 4 weeks i didn’t realise the MGP has gone down more that it should. Its showing 18/25Mpg on Avg now even after I reset the counters etc and drive like a Gran.

As for bills LOL The first week I got the car the prop went pop, £1100 later but I was lucky the prev owner paid for it, as for been a 3.0 v6 its stupid fast, I did a trade for my 09 Civic Type R and I’m sure this wouldn’t be that much slower plus its very stable at 100+ mph unlike the Honda :) then you hit a corner lol

If its mostly driven on shorter trips and around town this sounds about right.

A friend of mine was looking at this exact same car.

He ended up with a 5 litre diesel! Wow!

Same mpg as the 3.0 v6 petrol and only cost £7000. (£47,000 ish) new.

Truly amazing vehicle, he does his own repairs and has come from a Land Rover Discovery so running costs aren't much different.

He also lives on a farm.

Not really for the average Joe I would say.

Yea, I heard those V10 Commonrail turbodiesels are a cinch to fix in your barn.

Has to be the least economical diesel passenger car in the universe, too. At 23mpg combined it's more thirsty than an SLK55 AMG :D

He's an ex MOT tester, done mechanicing all his life. Very good at body repairs too.

You ever changed a sparking plug Fox? :D
 
He's basically saved £40k buying the car from new, the guy who sold it was ill with it.

It's worth a punt for £7k

I've heard the DSG box is a doddle too! :D

It's a gamble - and he knows it.

I think the oil change was well over £100 and that's to do it yourself.
 
I just did all the discs and pads for £175. VW wanted £700 lol, this is a diesel not sure if they do a 3.0 Petrol for the toureg?

I said he had come from an OLD Land Rover ;)

Land Rover - 23mpg if your lucky, more like 15 on some of the parcels i've seen.
