So I'm in work tomorrow, so I have to do that thing of sitting a long afternoon of work, knowing its sitting in the house.

told you all it was a decent phone :)

I may pick one up for my next work handset - they integrate very well into the corporate environment and MS are really pushing this to make WP8 the OS of choice if you are a corporate user.

Will stick with my iPhone for personal use though.

o Nokia think of the many many phones you could have sold with an Android option of a phone like this... I would love to go Nokia, just still not convinced by WP8. :(

Nope - But you can download an Google App, which I'm assuming you can search with

Nope - Best your get without downloading anything, is going into setting then power saving, witch will display that. There may even be a app to download that will display this in a live title.

actually you kind of can. you cant change the bing app (search hardware button) but yu can choose google in ie10 as the default engine...

My phone is coming through EE, had no option of courier delivery, think it was simply listed as free 2 day delivery.

That's the standard, I was only offered the option of courier when I complained I'm not waiting in for 2 weeks + because they cant specify a delivery date. Cost £2 more from memory.

I doubt I'll see it this week. But at least I'll get a text on day of delivery. Pretty annoyed with t-mobile as they have them in store.

Nokia's CEO is an ex-Microsoft guy. So a close partnership with Microsoft was always on the cards. Google being a bunch of arrogant nerds would never let Nokia shape the direction of Android.

If you want Android get a Nexus 4, it is the device that sums up Google's vision for Android, cheap and everywhere. Nokia and Microsoft are concentrating on how users use technology rather than adding hundreds of gimmicks that don't work well.

kinda. all wp8 device use data provided by Nokia in the default OS maps app with the ability to offline data, however the 820 &920 don't have shortcuts to the default maps app. instead they have "Nokia maps" which has extra features like shopping centre layouts and 3d models of large building and landmarks. you can still find default map app if you try from other parts of the OS like local scout etc

Oh I have a 16GB Nexus 4 ordered. However there is value in Nokia's quality of devices and attention to detail in things like the screen, audio, and camera. Just feels like wasted opportunities. I know about the Microsoft tie ins though so I know it's not going to change anytime soon, unless Nokia get in extreme danger of going under.

To be fair a lot of the stuff Google add into Android works well, the problem is that each innovation is totally separate from all the others. This gives an end result of an OS that just doesn't hang together in a coherent and consistent manner.
One of the major things that has impressed me about WP7 and WP8 is how coherent the OS is and how every aspect looks like it belongs together. It is also impressive how so many app developers have bought into the OS design style and help to maintain that platform consistency.

You do know that Droid cant support the camera stack or any of the RichRecording features, then theirs the question would Google let Nokia maps on the phones.
I'm over the moon we have a third partnership, as I feel the other two are dead ducks right showing or bringing nothing new to the table.

Of course Android could be made to support any of the features. Google wouldn't have a say in letting Nokia Maps on the phones, in fact for a short disastrous time Bing apps were forced onto some US Android devices without user choice, this is why the platform is open.

Nokia could release it's maps or any app in fact and Google would do nothing to block it.

Google is too powerful and Android isn't free of restrictions and special deals. It's not totally open in the sense that certain OEMs get priority access to the new builds.

Android is a dead end for OEMs, I think at some point Google will turn around and change the whole playing field, they've already done it by massively undercutting the other phones on the market with the Nexus 4, what next? licence fee increases?
